Could I be coming down with something, and what should I do to nip this in the bud, before it takes hold, like the flu or something?

You now have natural antibodies against whatever you had and wouldn't have gotten it again. Anyways, eat a large dose of vitamin C, as natural as possible. Go buy some oranges. And get some garlic and try to incorporate raw garlic in your next meal. Bruschetta is a good thing to eat, lots of garlic! The garlic will help kill off whatever is infecting you. You will notice a major difference within 24 hours.

You'll smell really garlicky for a while but it will probably help. Up to 10 grams of vitamin C should be OK to nip it, then 1 to 2 grams a day maintenance. Try a buffered (less acidic) form for tolerance. Something with a food in it like acerola cherry or rose hips is usually better than just plain ascorbic acid. If you get diarrhea, cut back until it passes. You might also go to a store that sells bulk herbs and ask them what they recommend as a tea.
