Participate: Discussion about certain alarming GLP Posts and Mental Illness. I want YOUR theories as to the cause !!

First of all before starting this discussion, i must remind that on GLP, We do not discriminate against the mentally ill, so i dont want any discriminating talk

However i would like your intake on what you think are possible mechanisms that cause eccentric people and brains to have the bizarre beliefs they have?

first some examples of what i am talking about:

- belief that the sun is too far south or north, even though its position is plotted to being exactly where it should be and there are no differences in sunrise and sunset times

- every part of the year Jupiter is brightest, belief that the planet Jupiter has ignited into a second sun of our solar system, even though thousands of people look at it with telescopes and it looks the same, even though its magnitude is the same as always.

- every time Venus is at its brightest, and the star charts available to everyone online show its position, people still post that it is a stationary UFO or planet X inbound

- Posts about one mechanism being the cause of 100% of diseases. e.g. "100% of diseases are caused by parasites". or "100% of diseases are caused by acidity, banking soda cures", and having this belief even though there are super obvious other mechanisms to disease that only takes 1 second to think of, such as down syndrome being caused by an extra chromosome.

- Posting that Obama is good and forgetting that a few weeks back they posted against the previous bailout which was the same, but when Bush was in, shows signs of severe memory loss, possible temporal lobe epilepsy.

- Dozens of other GLP posts that while may not APPEAR quite as outrageous looking as Wio posting filtered pics and calling them reptiles, they are just as untrue and just as outrageous.


Enough examples have been provided to give you a clue as to what we are talking about, even though there could be a list of 100s.

The Purpose of this post is to get your guesses as to some of the causes of these conditions in people. What conditions are they suffering from? Or what causes them to be this way? You can give answers everything from specific mental illness to them not being mentally ill but there is another reason.
