Products Range: De-Icing Systems
De-Icing Systems
DASH 8-Q400
Aérazur develops and manufactures pneumatic de-icing systems for aircraft.

The supply of such systems include the pneumatic elastomer de-icers and all the valves used for air control and supply as well as the controller managing system operation (cycles, data centralising, etc.).

These systems guarantee efficient protection of the wings, tail section and possibly the air intakes, for flights under icing conditions.

When ice begins to accumulate on the wings, the de-icers are inflated and deflated cyclically to break it up and cast it off. The icing cycle frequency (short or long cycle) depends on the conditions encountered as defined by JAR and FAR 25 Appendix C as well as on the application (type of airfoil, aircraft speed, altitude, etc.).

The heated de-icing system is mainly used to protect the engine propellers during anti-icing (continuous heating at minimum power to prevent ice accretion: preventive system).

Applications
- DASH 8Q400 (DE HAVILLAND)
- C27 J (ALENIA LOCKHEED)
- Y 8 (SHAANXI AIRCRAFT)
- ECLIPSE 500
- BA 609 (BELL / AUGUSTA)

This is accomplished by a heating element embedded in an elastomer matrix directly bonded to the surface to be protected.

The Dash8-400 has been the first aircraft on which Aerazur supply full systems; The 4 system on this aircraft are the following:

Pneumatic De -icing system
Ice Detection system
Windshield Anti-ice controller system
Door Seal system
Aérazur makes the initial ice accretion calculations at the inception of wing design then designs and supplies the entire system. This partnership makes Aérazur a leader for de-icing.

Electrical De-Icing
Transall
Aerazur proposes a complete range of electrical heaters in various thickness and dimension. Those heaters can be used for Engine Air Intake.

Aerazur also propose electrical de-icers to be fitted on propeller blades.

The new technology was developed with Ratier FIGEAC on the Transall military application.

The flat or in shape de-icers are made for metallic and composite propellers.

Aérazur was selected to provide de-icers for the new Ratier NP 2000 propeller blade version for the E2C application.

Pneumatic De-Icers
TBM700
The de-icers produced by Aerazur are shaped like rubber blankets covering the ice accretion aera. In these blankets are located narrow tubes that can be inflated by compressed air.

The cyclic inflation of these tubes breaks and lifts the ice in the air.

Applications
- ATR 42 ; ATR 72
- DE HAVILLAND: DASH 6 ; DASH 7 ; DASH 8-100 ; DASH 8-200 ; DASH 8-300 ; DASH 8-Q400

Two main designs are manufactured by Aérazur:

Built-up: This design allow manufacturing de-icers with 2 independent redundant circuits or complex three-dimensional shapes like engine air-intakes.
Stitched: Aérazur has introduced an unique design stitched on a computer controlled sewing machine, ensuring perfect reproducibility of shapes and regularity of stitches, resulting in significantly higher life expectancy than competing designs.
