FINANCIAL CRISIS MAY PLAY INTO N.D.P'S HANDS

(exerpt from article)

"The dream is of the German Reich. They're totally convinced that they'll win an election one day and that things will really get going. Everyone can imagine what would happen then."

German unemployment rose this month as the country was gripped by its worst recession in six decades, and analysts say worse is to come despite another uptick in consumer confidence.

The NDP is actually a major political party in Germany.

Like the Freedom Party in Austria, who were laughed at and scorned a while back. Now they're the largest party in Austria and govern with a mandate!

The party has never won the minimum 5% of votes in German federal elections that allow a party to send delegates to the German Parliament.

Re: ***ALERT: 1939 REPEATING - PLEASE READ!!***
It's basic math.

Massive recession/depression + widespread fear and record unemployment makes the rise of the Far-Right in countries like these inevitable.

People want jobs!

They don't care who gives them employment and security (ie, look at Bush's re-election in 2004 for example). People will vote for these types if it means security, food on the plate, pride and stable employment.

As previously noted, it's a cycle. It happens every 60-70 odd years. Now is the beginning of that same cycle which has come around again, and we're living to witness it.

Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, they're all electing far-right governments into power. Germany has its worst recession and unemployment in SIXTY YEARS.

Believe me, if it can happen anywhere, it's there

I'm no historian but if you've ever looked through the Chronicle of the 20th Century (which documents all relevant headlines from 1901-1989) you'll see what I mean about the "cycle". It's so true.

Major economic crises bring these conditions about, and make the circumtances ripe for these groups to manipulate public mood to take power, whether they be movements, political parties, anything that is a far-right force

Look up the German group "BMW". That's eyebrow raising

Obviously, Obama shall be elected Fuhrer in Germany after accepting the appointment as Emperor of Japan. It is the cyclic nature of history.

chuckle

OP has a point, but I don't think it's quite there yet. It took hitler a depression and 10 years to get into WWII, and even with accelerated events today, it's still a big leap from some unhappy people to WWIII.

Plus, that didn't work out so well for them the first time, so they're bound to try and plan it better the next time around, and that will take time.

Maybe it's 1928 or so, and it's possible it might happen some day, but it's no 1939 yet.

Why do you think Merkel just said NO to an EU fund to give money to eastern Europe? (BUT, she did slip it in a couple weeks ago that they, as Germany, would give the UMF money so that they could help eastern Europe... Hmmm.)
Why?

Here is my take, as someone who has been there a lot.

The average German "Arbeiter" (They even use a capital for that) or "laborer" is PISSED off these days and has been. The influx of Polish and other migrant workers has not gone over well, but the tempers are always kept just under and mainly off the radar.

Once in Switzerland, hiking, we played pool at a bar and met some German Arbeiter's. When we asked why they are in Switzerland and not in Germany, well, that is when then stories (as well as the steins of beer) really started to flow. In CH they at least got a decent wage still. Yes, of course it is HARD (wow) to be away from the wife and kids, but there is no choice- all the labor jobs are going either to the far east or to foreign laborers in Germany!

IF Germany bails out anyone other than Germans, then there will be major problems. That is my take/guess.

I would watch out for any of these radical movements now, for things may go VERY fast forward at a certain point...

Sorry, meant IMF in 1st paragraph.
It is a catch 22, for when Ukraine falls (They can not pay their energy bills this week and may be shut-off), Sweden, Germany and other countries will feel major pain.
