Quoting: Anonymous Coward 636312Lotta places in the US have snow on the ground right now. OP you need to take advantage of the fact that you still have a couple of things. Do odd jobs. Anything, mow a lawn, rake some leaves, shovel some snow in your case. Clean gutters. Do anything, you can think off for a few bucks. Never let it get you down. Sweep resturants back steps, anything! Best to you OP! Fishing and skiing keeps me a little sane. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 564059Don't always depend on help coming to you, go to the source. You say that but if you don't have any family and you are homeless then you need an address. It also doesn't come right away. You have piles of paper work to do and people without kids only get food stamps and medical insurance temporaily. Also, the housing assistance may take up to three years. they don't just give you a house. you have to stay in line. It takes years... They don't just cut you a check neither. It depends what state you are in too. I had Cancer and couldn't work. they said I wasn't eligible for money in Memphis. I was a stage 3/almost stage 4 with Cancer and the only thing they gave me was medical insurance and food stamps... Even having Cancer in Memphis I had to get a waiver in Nashville and the paper work took 5 months of waiting till I got it too. Some states are better at giving you things than other States. I slept in the back seat and hid at nights there sleeping . I parked it at 24 hour fitness parking lots. I would shower at 24 and potty there. Occasioanlly worked out. I would go to the Las Vegas Library to get my free internet hook up N then after finding a job I found a furnished apartment suite with cable, electricity, and water. They have soup kitchens. And if you get tired of sleeping in the car they have warm cots. You can stay for free for 21 days or something like that. Also checkout Labor Ready job source. it might be a different name where you are but you go in there and put your name on the list, sign up, pass a safety test, maybe a drug test, and wait there with the crowd and eventually a job will open up. they are jobs that don't require any experience. like cleaning up roadways, warehouses, directing traffic at construction sites...etc... it's minimum wage and you can get up to 14 hours a day! once you get a job they give you the option of returning if it's more than a days work. you get paid the same day as you work also...homeless people are always lined up at the door before it even opens smoking cigs and and bs'ing. once you get in there they have free coffee and shit. it's first come first serve for the jobs so just park your car in the lot or wherever is safe and show up early. another thing is checkout sam's club if there is one near you. they might try to check for a membership card at the door but just say you are there to buy one and sneak back to the free samples. you can get a decent free lunch there. also remember you are a lot better off than a lot of people. |
