soup analysis User ID: 648703 Australia 04/06/2009 12:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Butter Chicken Chunky Soup, 94% fat free I have a can of Butter Chicken Chunky Soup, which says on the front, "94% fat free". So what does that mean then?
Looking at the amounts of nutrients on the back, it has:
avg quantity per 100g energy 310kJ protein 3.1g fat 5.2g carbohydrate 7.3g
Using 17kJ/gram for protein and carbohydrate, and 37kJ/gram for fat, the calculation is: energy = protein + carbos + fat energy = 3.1 * 17 + 7.3 * 17 + 5.2 * 37 = 52.7 + 124.1 + 192.4 = 369.2 kJ
So 52.1% of the energy in the butter chicken chunky soup comes from fat. They call it "94% fat free". Yes I suppose water is fat free.
It has ingredients, which include "Chicken (4.0%)" and "Butter (1.0%)". They may as well have called it "95% butter chicken free". |
