Boxer: "I will work harder!".... Pigs: "Thank you, Boxer, and in return, your retirement will be a beautiful utopia!"

Orwell's "Animal Farm":

'"I will work harder!" is Boxer's response to nearly all problems. He ends up overstraining himself and collapses. This motto may be a reference to the novel The Jungle, which illustrates the abuse and swindling of the working class, as it was the motto of the main character in that novel also.'

Of course when Boxer did try to retire, he was sent off the farm. The Pigs told the farm animals that he will be kindly treatly and his retirement will be a joy....

We find out later that Boxer was quickly turned into glue.

I mention this because as the cost of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security soar with the baby boomers retiring....well, all along we told these folks their retirements were secure...but in reality I fear this is not the case. What has happened is there HAS NOT been an sincere effort from the TOP to actually extend our lives because the bottom line is this: if you are not being productive (like when Boxer collapsed and could work no more), they really just want to suck your estate dry with bills and then have you die.

It saves the TOP money and effort and they get your estate.

We are already being told that there is just not enough money to take care of all of these old folks...is this the new crisis? Old folks dying in the streets?
