Quoting: Anonymous Coward 591770does using hot or cold water really make a difference? darn penny pincher! [/no;,you will end up spending more money on medicine and etc. Just turn the hot water back in when using the washer and turn it off once it is filled. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 673329 I use hot for whites and bleach (socks), warm for towels, cold for everything else. If it's an especially dirty load I add a little Oxy-Clean. Oh, and I like the laundry smelling good so I use fabric softener in the rinse. I despise the petroleum chemical fragrance that they put in fabric softener liquid. The fabric softener dryer sheets stink the worst. I put white vinegar in the rinse to get all of the soap out of the laundry and it makes the laundry soft. I don't want my clothes to smell like a cheap French whore. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 591770 does using hot or cold water really make a difference? darn penny pincher! You have to be very thorough, repeat the rinsing cycle often (this does not mean using a lot of water necessarily - just make sure to rinse several times). It's like with rinsing a bottle. Using 0.1 l water 5 consecutive times, each time shaking the bottle thoroughly, will be more effective than filling the bottle once. |

For example you can soak your laundry in the washer with OxiClean for a bit before washing. You can also add the laundry detergent boosters borax and or ammonia for extra germ killing and cleaning results. |

Rather than detergent I use a few "glugs" of white vinegar and a few dashes of an equal mix of tee tree , eucalyptus and lavender essential oils that I made. Ocasionally, a half cup of Borax Mule Team for the whites. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 67557710 United States 01/23/2021 10:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's the agitation that cleans the clothes. People all over the world since laundry was a thing have been down at the river washing their clothes. We have been brain washed into thinking we need hot water and toxic chemicals to get "Clean". I use cold water and seldom use soap for lightly soiled clothing, And haven't noticed much difference. But that is due to issues with contact dermatitis when I use detergent. |
