Consumer confidence

So I just heard on the news that stocks were up today due to a report on the consumer confidence index. This raised a question in my mind.

How much has preparing and prepping aided this index?

I've been spending money like a drunken sailor over the last year buying guns, ammo, food, bug out gear, and the like.

Where would this consumer confidence index be without the preppers? How much of an impact are we? Are we in effect holding up the economy by prepping for it's demise?
