Anonymous Coward User ID: 676234 United States 07/05/2009 01:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Of all the posts, I find the "contractors favor" the most logical and believable. To my knowledge, quid pro quo seems appropriate here in understanding the "chosen ones" actions. And to my understanding, most all politicians meet contractors on gov. paid projects and find some way to corruptly funnel favors or money back the other way. Besides, recall that AL senator who had money stuffed in his contractor favored residence? Seems in AL this is the chosen method of corruption. I can only imagine how much "favoritism" came out of the Alaska pipeline in the 70's...I can only imagine how much was skimmed. Alaska is making Vegas seem normal |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 676234 United States 07/05/2009 01:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | from 11 news.com... "...Sarah Palin Embezzlement Scandal - Alaska Governor Sarah Palin resigned because of an embezzlement scandal involving her actions as Mayor of Wasilla and receiving huge financial favors from Spenard Building Supplies. The Sarah Palin embezzlement scandal now has Federal indictments being issued this month that would have crippled Palin’s ability to govern effectively. So sudden was her resignation that her own children didn’t know she was resigning until they heard the words spoken. Prior to her sudden announcement, Palin gave every indication that she intended to complete her tenure as governor, including during a meeting just 36 hours earlier with Senator Mark Begich. The embezzlement scandal involves the massive, $12.5 million sports complex that Sarah Palin pushed through during her last term as Mayor in Wasilla. Federal investigators believe the price of the sports complex was inflated to provide free building materials and labor for the Palin home being constructed nearby. The sports complex’s contractors and architect have strong links and ties to Palin. Spenard Building Supplies was one - they are the largest building supply company in Alaska - and they also supplied labor & materials for the Palin’s home being built at the same time on nearby Lake Lucille. Spenard Building Supplies was also the supplier and contractor for ex-Senator Ted Stevens cabin. This one building supply company was in bed with Palin, Stevens, the Wasilla sports complex, and is also a major financial contributor to Palin..." link below: [link to a11news.com] |

If she did indeed do what was reported then they can stand behind their freedom of press, but if they are printing lies, like her attorney claims, they are breaching a code of ethics established by journalists. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 713852Code of ethics by journalists? When the hell did journalists ever show any code of ethics? Watch TV news much? |
Wasilla-in-my-rearview-mirror User ID: 704887 United States 07/05/2009 01:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh, I LIKE this thread! My family's business centered around Spenard Building Supply (SBS) - we were homebuilders (usually ranches and duplexes). Last time I heard SBS now buys up any up and coming lumber supply store trying to take root. Can you say 'monopoly'? Sooooooo, along with the fact there is MASSIVE corruption amongst Alaskan politicians (nothing new here right?), I wouldn't be one bit surprised if OP's speculation is correct. What is really interesting, is that very few Alaskans show up anytime Sarah gave a speech ANYWHERE in Alaska since her epic failure as VP candidate. However, the people in the States show up by the thousands. If they only knew. Some people from the Outside call her an "American Treasure". Bite me. She keeps on and on about the frivilous lawsuits (which some of them ARE truly ridiculous), but if she thinks by quitting as to SAVE Alaskan's money by fighting them all, well - that's SOP, so....so what. Yep, there's another reason behind her resignation. I tell ya, there's not too many rocket scientists up there. Anyone with a brain with an IQ over 83 has left the state. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 718767 United States 07/05/2009 01:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its just another distraction to keep you wasting your time. Anyone and everyone in high profile politics turns in a letter of resignation upon accepting said job. And when those in control need a little distraction, BOOM, some dumb bitch is quitting her job. Who the fuck cares? |
