OBAMA SPEECH - JULY 22, 2009
OK, so it's pretty clear now how Obama plans to fund this health care reform. Basically, taxing the extremely wealthy people. Rich families pay basically the same co pay as middle class families. We could provide health care for every single family at the expense of the families who have so much money that they don't know what to do with it. I'm sure someone still has something bad to say about Obama and how he's spending money we don't have. Could you agree that he does have a plan, and that he is not just throwing money around without knowledge?

Goodbye, halcyon days...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.

I guarantee he had the biggest influence, if not the only, in what was put on the teleprompter for him to read. Shit, at least he can read. Bush couldn't even read that teleprompter, maybe because he only read it once through before speaking it.

He has a plan but it is a piss poor plan.

Ask the British.

Ask the Canadiens.

Bad for the tax payer. yes the rich will be taxed but then they pass it off on us poorer folks, as increased costs in their businesses.

Bad for people who need health care.

Not every poor person is lazy, stop generalizing, just like rich people did not all work hard to get where they are.
There's a lot of favouritism going on in high places, they often get ridiculous salaries because they are a friend, a family member a close relative, they never did real hard work in their life.
These bastards should be taxed to the bone.

It's all about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, that is what the USA is about now, that should change.
In order to become United (SA) again, the gap between rich and poor should not become bigger.

Yes, It always amazes me when wealthy people refer to people that are not rich as lazy poor folks. Makes me sick and embarrassed that we have people in this country who think like this.

i'm not rich...quite the opposite...

but why the FUCK does it make sense to essentially penalize someone for being successful? that's how it is in this country - the more successful you are, the more the gov. tries to take from you (unless you're tied in with the feds or one of the big banks - which is the same thing these days)

this is because the government HATES competition, and they LOVE exercising their "authority"...if you're not in the bankers' club, you're scum...so bend over

giving someone the power the tax is giving them power over you

It's not like that, the government is far from worrying about competition. They OWN the competition, don't forget. Money really is the route of all evil. It's not about taking money from rich people, it's about helping those who are suffering. Don't say that all of those who are suffering are lazy, or not doing anything. Some probably are, but the majority of suffering families are FIGHTING just to keep a roof over there head and food on the table. It shouldn't be like this. They are doing all they can and barely managing to live. Well actually, that's not living at all. You can say they should of went to school and gotten a better job, but just remember that they most likely didn't have the opportunity that you did. Life is not about money!!! Ask all the rich people who realize money doesn't make them happy. I think it would make them happy to help out the world. What's funny is those who have worked hard to be wealthy are more likely to be willing to help out others, and those who have been handed wealth will be more likely to say piss off, DIS MY MONEY! I am not poor or suffering, but I'm certainly not wealthy. I can do most of the things I want to, I can't complain, although it would be nice to own some jet ski's and Ferrari. But I certainly can and will complain when I am more willing to provide for someone in need, than a snobby asshole with millions sitting in a bank who thinks he's better than me because his family has money. Fuck money.

He may say he is taxing the rich, but when federal income tax was started, it also was only for the rich. History repeats. He does not have a plan, thats the problem. He has an agenda. He wants health care. He has no clue how. He spoke all night and never once gave one detail. If this plan is so good, give it to all federal employees first for the first two years, and then let us choose. He says you will be able to keep your plan. Until you lose your job or your current coverage, then you can never go back, you must use the government plans. If you are a government employee(the biggest employer in this country) you will always have what you have now.

listen folks
this is not about being rich or poor. there are good souls and bad souls from both ends of the economic scale. this is about freedom and liberty. wether you want to admit it or not rich people play an important role in any economy. they make profit then re invest some of that profit back into society. why do they do that? many reasons but primarily because of their own greed. the by product is more jobs and money in our pocket for both you and me. the government does not create wealth but take a piece of it to keep us safe and keep things fair when run properly. the real sadness is that more and more people feel that they are entitled to be taken care of. for you people i say this, i hope cap and trade passes, and i hope health care passes. then i truly hope this country collapses. why? because i love this country and only at that time those people that truly want to better themselves will take care of themselves and help others like them out. the lazy ones will be on their own! god bless america

 Quoting: Mark

Progressive taxation is a direct violation of the principle of individual rights, since the tax payer who pays a higher percentage of their income does not receive a comparable percentage increase in benefits.
It has been argued that progressive taxation violates the principle of equality under the law.[24]
Progressive taxes lower savings rates. High-earners have a lower average propensity to consume, so shifting the tax-burden away from them will increase the aggregate savings rate, which should increase steady state growth (if the savings rate is initially below the Golden Rule savings rate).

 Quoting: Mark

The communist revolution is the most radical rupture with traditional relations; no wonder that its development involved the most radical rupture with traditional ideas.

But let us have done with the bourgeois objections to communism.

We have seen above that the first step in the revolution by the working class is to raise the proletariat to the position of ruling class to win the battle of democracy.

The proletariat will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degree, all capital from the bourgeoisie, to centralize all instruments of production in the hands of the state, i.e., of the proletariat organized as the ruling class; and to increase the total productive forces as rapidly as possible.

Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property, and on the conditions of bourgeois production; by means of measures, therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionizing the mode of production.

These measures will, of course, be different in different countries.

Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable.

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

5. Centralization of credit in the banks of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.
