School: No shortage of volunteers for swine flu vaccine trials (CNN) -- Days after the U.S. government announced upcoming trials for an H1N1 flu vaccine, Saint Louis University has been inundated with phone calls and e-mails from people volunteering for the study...
[ link to edition.cnn.com] "I trust the pharma companies!" Quoting: Mr. Limpet 526155People who "volunteer" for clincial trials ARE NOT STUPID. I think it takes a lot of courage to try a medicine that has only been used on lab animals. It is people like that that benefit the rest of us. It has been said that the possibility of 40-50% of the USA population could be infected with this new virus. God only knows how many will surivive. This virus leaves leisions on the lungs. As a nurse, should clincal trials come out positive, I fully intend to be vaccinated. We get exposed to MANY nasty bugs EVERYDAY. I posted a lengthy statement about this virus on the post "RN jobs offered in Seattle" or something similar. I thank those who are willing to be "pioneers" for the good of us all. God bless them!!!!!
