I am not sure why the US Army would need the German military on US soil. We have a career military that is woefully unmotivated to go to war here in Germany and it's relatively small.

The German army has helped the US Army on German soil recently, guarding US military bases here when US soldiers went to Iraq - but I have a tough time imagining that German troops would be needed in the US or even be a large enough number to make a meaningful impact.

Support for the military here is low - and most people are not even aware we are fighting in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, perhaps German politicians figure we don't need soldiers forcing people to get vaccinated since most are such docile sheep asleep at the wheel. The media has been full of panicky stories about swine flu lately. Bild Zeitung which is by far the largest German newspaper has had a story on swine flu on their website's frontpage every day. A few days ago it was "Why is the government only ordering enough vaccines for 22.5 million of us?" there are 80 million people in Germany. Today it is "Are 75,000 Heavy Metal Fans at danger from H1N1?" talking about a music festival this weekend. They do stress though, if you attend the concert and feel sick you should tell someone and they have "special isolation areas" - heck that's a half step away from Fema camp ;-)
