Hundreds Of Doctors Propose Ethical, Natural, More Effective Alternative As In Vitro Fertilization Debate Rages
"In the letter, doctors urge parliamentarians to vote against IVF, and to consider NaProTechnology, which they describe as "a diagnostic-therapeutical method," which "constitutes a cheap, realistic, healthy and wholly ethical alternative to artificial reproduction."

The letter marks the first in Poland from scholars and medical professionals openly condemning IVF.

"We would like to emphasize the fact that contrary to NaProTechnology, artificial fertilization entails risk of embryo death, miscarriage and multiple pregnancies oftentimes resulting in premature births," warns the letter. "IVF also incurs increased risk of fetal abnormalities and of health issues for the woman undergoing ovarian hyperstimulation."

In summary, they said, "IVF is an expensive, less effective, controversial method that entails serious health risks."

"NaProTechnology or Natural Procreative Technology is a new and innovative medical science that works cooperatively with the body's natural procreative cycles, enhancing the chances of procreation naturally and healthily.

We seek out the cause of infertility in our patients and look to restore their bodies to a healthy state where natural conception can take place. Artificial fertility treatments ignore the causes of infertility and bypass the problem rather than looking to treat the underlying cause."

"Naprotechnology
Why use NaProTechnology

•Infertility
•Miscarriage
•Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
•Abnormal bleeding patterns
•Premenstrual Syndrome
•Ovarian cysts
What is NaProTechnology

Natural Procreative Technology or NaProTechnology is an innovative medical science that works cooperatively with the body's natural procreative cycles, enhancing the chances for procreation in a way that is natural and healthy.

Infertility is often a symptom of other health concerns. With NaProTechnology, patients and doctors collaborate to identify the cause of infertility in our patients and restore their bodies to a healthy state where natural conception can take place.

This new woman's health science is an alternative to other ways of treating women's health and fertility issues. Without NaProTechnology, reproductive health concerns, including infertility, are addressed in ways that bypass the problems or suppress normal functions.

How does NaProTechnology Work

The FertilityCare System for charting fertility is the foundation for all NaProTechnology evaluation and treatment. Women and couples learn to identify biological signs of the reproductive cycle, and to confidently interpret their times of fertility and infertility.

This FertilityCare chart offers clear identification of ovulation, apparent to patients and doctors trained in NaProTechnology. A carefully timed hormone evaluation identifies subtle abnormalities in the reproductive cycle.

A standardised teaching system enables couples to quickly develop capability and confidence in charting their cycle. Any abnormalities that may contribute to sub fertility can be corrected medically, and this process of restoring optimal fertility is closely monitored.

How successful is NaProTechnology

NaProTechnology can help couples with a wide variety of diagnoses and even unexplained infertility or after previously failed IVF. Success varies depending on the diagnoses, with an average over 50% live birth and includes women of mature reproductive age i.e. 36-44 yrs. (Click here to view published study [link to www.shamrockdesktop.com] ).

Although fertility charting and hormone evaluation focus on the female element of fertility, NaProTechnology provides a thorough evaluation and treatment of male factors contributing to sub fertility.

The lowest treated semen analysis that resulted in conception in a European NaProTechnology Programme had a count of only four million with 45% motility and 96% abnormal morphology.

This had improved from untreated levels that had counts of less than one million. That couple had tried and failed ICSI (a form of IVF) twice before succeeding with NaProTechnology."

"This is the first women's health science to network family planning with reproductive health monitoring and maintenance. It is a fertility-care based medical approach rather than a fertility-control approach to family planning and gynecological health.

NaProTECHNOLOGY uses the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System

biomarkers to monitor easily and objectively the occurrence of various hormonal events during the menstrual cycle. NaProtracking provides valid information that can be interpreted by a woman and by physicians who are specifically trained in this system.

Unlike common suppressive or destructive approaches, NaProTECHNOLOGY works cooperatively with the procreative and gynecologic systems. When these systems function abnormally, NaProTECHNOLOGY identifies the problems and cooperates with the menstrual and fertility cycles that correct the condition, maintain the human ecology, and sustain the procreative potential.

Women now have an opportunity to know and understand the causes of the symptoms from which they suffer."

"The open letter from medical professionals was published in the major daily paper Rzeczpospolita.

It followed on the heels of a conference on the most advanced natural techniques to combat infertility known as NaProTechnology that was held two weeks ago in Poland and attended by hundreds of doctors and medical professionals
."

Open Letter to Polish Parliamentarians on NaProTechnology

"As infertility treatment professionals participating in the international conference "NaProTechnology - Lublin 2009", we would like to announce the launch of a revolutional womens' reproductive health science known as NaProTechnology in Poland.

This science allows for an in-depth evaluation and effective treatment of the causes of infertility. It gives couples the chance to conceive a child through natural sexual relations and to bear a healthy child to term and give birth to it. For that purpose, this science applies the latest achievements of many branches of medicine, including surgery, gynecology, pharmacology and andrology, in full ecological cooperation with the woman's natural reproductive physiology.

The experience of our colleagues from the US and Ireland proves that NaProTechnology is more effective than IVF. It also offers solutions in cases when IVF fails or is highly risky. NaProTechnology can also often overcome the problem of male infertility.

At the same time, NaProTechnology offers a comprehensive, holistic approach to women's reproductive health. In an unprecedented way it can predict fertility problems, such as risk of miscarriage, as well as a patient's inclination to other diseases, including, for example, breast cancer. NaProTechnology is effective in treating endometriosis, PMS, recurrent ovarian cysts, post-natal depression and other irregularities, without risking the side effects of other pharmaceutical therapies which are harmful to natural physiology.

Moreover, the Creighton Model System - a biomarker observation method built into NaProTechnology - allows for effective family planning without incurring any of the problems and risks connected to hormonal contraception and IUDs.

As a diagnostic-therapeutical method, NaProTechnology constitutes a cheap, realistic, healthy and wholly ethical alternative to artificial reproduction. It is already present in many countries, including Poland. The NaProTechnology 2009 conference in Lublin testified to a growing interest in NaProTechnology among medical professionals and patients. Hundreds of participants from Poland and abroad listened to presentations by scientists from the US, Ireland and Canada. Interns, doctors and Creighton Model instructors also underwent further professional training.

We would like to emphasize the fact that contrary to NaProTechnology, artificial fertilization entails risk of embryo death, miscarriage and multiple pregnancies oftentimes resulting in premature births. IVF also incurs increased risk of fetal abnormalities and of health issues for the woman undergoing ovarian hyperstimulation. It violates the dignity of men, women and children.

IVF is an expensive, less effective, controversial method that entails serious health risks. It is no wonder that around the world, only a small percentage of couples struggling with infertility decide to undergo IVF. NaProTechnology offers everyone an unquestioned new alternative.

We ask you to consider all these facts in the debate on infertility treatment which is now underway and to take NaProTechnology into account in public discourse. We also ask you to vote to reject all legislative proposals to legalize IVF or to allow for public funding of ARTs which would thereby not only force our society to accept IVF, but would also promote the erroneous view of IVF as the single most effective possible answer to infertility

Re: Hundreds Of Doctors Propose Ethical, Natural, More Effective Alternative As In Vitro Fertilization Debate Rages
Ok...I didn't read everything. The Creighton method is basically charting. Some people refer to it as "natural family planning." It's just charting to figure out what's going on in your cycle. I charted for years. You keep track of your basal temperature (have to take your temp every morning at the same time as soon as you wake up, before getting out of bed), your cervical mucous (yeah...gross...whatever) and some other things. You do learn a LOT about your body. I even figured out I get the hiccups every month 3 days before I ovulate.

Anyway, like I said...I didn't read everything on the site. But I can't see how this can be labeled as an alternative to IVF. For some people, yes. I know people who've done IVF having never charted, so they don't even know if they're ovulating or anything. But I also know someone who did IVF because she'd had her tubes tied and it was the only way to get pregnant at that point. And I know someone who did IVF with donor eggs because she had problems with her eggs.

Anyway, we never chose to do IVF. It's not something I was ethically ok with. We adopted instead. I think that's a pretty good alternative. :)

I just don't think this is a "more effective alternative" to IVF. Misleading.
