Would an Angel/Arch Angel really kill someone?

I'm asking this because on one of the posts, there was a story where a soldier, Michael, met on the battle field the Arch Angel, Michael, and the the Arch Angel smoted 7 guys. Now WHY would a messenger from God kill humans if God is all loving? I could see him stopping the action, but not killing.
