September 15, 2009 State Council of China approved increase in water level at Three Gorges! Cause of Earthquakes?

It has been reported in the past that the pressure from all this water could cause earthquakes.

The assumption was that the earthquakes would happen near Three Gorges Dam. What might be happening is that the presure is causing the Eurasian plate to sink and lift the Phillipine and Indo-Australian plates which is where much of the most recent action has been.

Water storage of Three Gorges Project exceeds 10 billion cubic meters

The Three Gorges Project reservoir holds over 10 billion cubic meters of water in the section where 175-meter capacity experiment is being carried out. At present, the experiment is progressing smoothly and the reservoir's discharge flow rate is being maintained at about 8,000 cubic meters per second, with little impact on shipping and water supplies in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

According to the Three Gorges Water Control Center under the China Three Gorges Corporation, by 10:00am on October 8, the water level in the Three Gorges dam reservoir had risen to 162.42 meters, up 16.55 meters over the 145.87 meters on September 15 when the experiment was first initiated. The increased water storage capacity of the Three Gorges reservoir has reached about 10.3 billion cubic meters.

The State Council of China has approved the increase in the water level of the Three Gorges Project to the limited 175 meters for the first time, and the total water storage capacity of the Three Gorges reservoir will reach 393 cubic meters for the first time.
