Minor point of clarification; the write down was tax related. So, it may not have anything to do with loan defaults.

Imagine for a second that you live on a farm, in an isolated region in a town of 7,500 people. You get 100% of your goods delivered to you via the town's rail line, and the single two-lane country road going through town.

As you sit there munching on lunch, you see the local news come on with a report that a train crash has torn up the railroad tracks and took out the bridge over that two-lane road. You think, hum, and discard the thought and go about your day.

Two days later, you need groceries so you head into town. But, the shelves are bare and you find out there will be no deliveries by rail until next month. Meanwhile the road/bridge was bypassed by local farmers working together, and you hope to see trucks soon.

THE POINT: What may seem like nothing now, may very well become shockingly apparent, soon.

I saw where Carl Icahn loaned CIT $1 BILLION today. This makes me continue to believe that GLP is a pretty valid website with timely news and some times ahead of the curve. Earlier this week someone posted right here on GLP that CIT was going to go bankrupt by the end of the week - and then Mr. Icahn came forward today. I've found other posts here that have been very accurate as well and when a *BREAKING* event happens, it finds its way almost immediately to GLP. Keep it up GLP!

This sucks BIGTIME. If CITI files for any kind of bankruptcy it's going to kill ALL of the financials and the whole damn house of cards is coming down.

The only thing keeping it afloat now is those TARP injections. If CITI fails, people will freak out, sell off ALL banks, and the whole fucking thing comes down like the WTC on 9/11. Forget pulling your money out, it's too late for that now. You'd all better get your pantry stocked with long term non-perishable canned goods, rice, and water filtration supplies. The shit storm's about to come down hard.

Edited to add: well crap, seems like this forum doesn't like this specific code. The correct symbol is an equal sign with a diagonal line through it. Another way to represent "does not equal" is !=, both the =/= and the != are used primarily in computer programming code and not typical daily tasks.
