Before he was governor of Minnesota he was an articulate talk show host with some great ideas. After elected governor, he introduced some clever ideas such as converting the state legislature to a Unicameral structure like Nebraska, but it never got off the ground, probably because too many politicians would lose their jobs (and it made sense!). The real problem he had as an elected official in my opinon, viewed from a neighboring state, was that he could not take the media scrutiny of his family.

I can't remember all the details since it's been so long, but I remember several separate incidents where his wife and/or son were criticized and he went ballistic.

He is doing what he does best now. I don't think he'll run for any office again.
