Apparently drowning almost every living thing on Earth wasn't satisfying enough. He needed the pleasure of seeing a few burnt up as well.

Heck, seeing a bunch of sheep and cows and ducks go up in flame was so pleasing to the old sadist, he decided right then and there to let mankind in on the fun. His very next speech to Noah is the "Go ahead and eat the animals. Make them hate and fear you. Just let the blood out of first, okay, just to keep things nice and kosher?"
