Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A psychological maneuver that falls under the unbrella of Psyops is referred to as ´Psych Out´. The military uses this during basic training. Rather than gently carressing the egos and psyches of their new trainees, like their mothers had, the drill sargeant instead berates and yell commands, harshly thrashing about the the emotions of the trainee while becoming the target of hate. One would think this would be a distructive tool. It´s not. It´s reverse psychology at it´s best. It forces the individual in training to dig down deep and find his inner strength, (his sword, if you will). When he finds this sword hidden deep inside himself (usually found at the most weakest and emotionally vunerable broken moment of his training) he will have discovered the valuable weapon in the forged steel of his will. With that knowledge, he can then rise up out of the mud, with sword in hand, finally ready to slay whatever ´dragons´ he is presented with. This is the beautiful ´piece of work´ that the sculpter (drill sargeant) had been pain stakingly chipping away in hopes to reveal and is the process to eliminate what unneccesarily hinders the purety of the warrior´s psyche. This is the hidden goal behind the ´emotional thrashing´ bestowed by the drill sargeant. . . .that all trainees find their ´swords´, so that one day what finally rises out of the mud of a repeated failed physical challenge on a training course . . . is the beautiful vision of a soldier . . . and behind the eyes of the Drill Sargent . . . a smile. He enlists as a boy, and rises as a man. |

"It was a time of solemn reflection and careful choosing," DeLay said. "Personally, I would´ve loved to have a Marine medal of honor, because my favorite uncle was a Marine, but there´s no such thing. Oh well." [link to www.theonion.com] |

Certainly wasn´t my original intent. To get anyone turned around . . .but that´s what happens when you shake it all about. What once was put in as ´right´ Ends up being left. |
