I've lived homeless as an experiment for a few months. Literally, on the street, like a bum. I didn't have to, I just wanted to experience it. Nevertheless, I easily checked into a homeless shelter and was given a cot to sleep in and food. People even offered me help in finding a job.

People are not dying in America. They are fat and don't even realize it, so stop being so arrogant and give a $ if you really want to.

I am sorry to say that I have some of the same sentiments. I guess I am just a bad person. I wonder why our govenrment seems to care more about others than its own taxpayers and citizens.

I just read on a CNN "I Report" how the American embassy in Port-au-Prince was turning away and refusing to do anything for U.S. Citizens who had made it to its doors. The Embassy remains standing (probably because it was built to a higher building code than surrounding structures.) The U.S. ambassador, though, was happy to provide NBC with an interview on all the US planned to do for Haitians.

I agree. I was at the grocery store today and got the usual...would you like to donate...and I'd said no...I'll pass. As far as I'm concerned...charity begins at home. I would like to give about $10,000 dollars but my congress person won`t give me his bank account # and if they are brought to the USA they should be supported by the congress retirement set up for themselves not tax dollar,all support should be on a volunteer basis and NOT tax dollar
