I usually put dried currants in them instead of raisins, but this time I left them plain, but put M&M's on the tops of a few of them.

I should have done all of them that way! Those are the yummiest. :)

I've made oatmeal cookies with peanut butter, but never with cocoa ... but that sounds very good!

No butterscotch chips ... they are too sweet for my taste!

Just one M&M squished into the top of a few of them. As I said, I wish I had done all of them that way.

PS: I have a gallon of milk. You could bring a bottle of Merlot. I'm certain Merlot goes with oatmeal cookies.

Which do find makes better cookies. Butter, shortening or margarine?

I learned a new trick, soak the raisins in vanilla and a little rum for an hour before mixing them in the batter. Yummy!

Butter only! I quit using margerine ages ago, and only use shortening for greasing pans when needed.

The soaking of the raisins sounds delicious. I'll try that one of these times ...

A kindred spirit. I don't like raisins in oatmeal cookies, either. I don't know why, because I like raisins in other things. But they just don't taste right in oatmeal cookies.

Sometimes I put chopped walnuts in them. Sometimes currants (which are infinitely better than raisins in cookies), sometimes chopped dates. This time, just plain ... but they are yummy.

They are in all the supermarkets here. I probably got them at Safeway. The box reads: "Sun-Maid Natural California Zante Currants". Look in the dried fruits section -- probably close to where they keep raisins at the market.
