that is such bs. i experimented with other girls and only did it because my friends were doing it. none us are lesbians, and were only doing it because of peer pressure. people choose to be gay.

You guys shouldn't have led the women to think being "bi" was cool. They found out they liked the girls better and are dumping their boyfriends now.

I don't know, I think some women get treated like shit by men or have a really bad relationship and decide to go lesbian. I can't imagine doing that. I also know a number of men who were bisexual for many years but they all ended up in LTR with men, though they still can appreciate a hot woman. I also know guys who were totally straight and turned gay because they were too awkward to get a woman. True stuff.

I also experimented with other girls when I was coming of age. We all did it. That certainly didn't make any of us lesbians. I am still friends with some of the girls, we all like men now.

They actually are not turning from one thing to the other, they are finally stopping the lie they told themselves and lived and be that which they are.

The reality is that 90% of us are to one level or another bisexual. the remaining 10% are either 100% totally straight or 100% totally homosexual.

The majority of the bisexuals are mostly straight (or gay) and identify as whatever they are mostly. Thus this can play another roll in sexual identity and some people can 'easily' be pushed from one identity to another. EXAMPLE: a victim of rape suddenly becomes a lesbian. S/he has always had the "tendency" or the ability, however s/he has found that being straight is unbearable and goes for the alternative or the more bearable.

Sexuality is far more complex that most people seem to understand. The larger "bisexual" population that identify as straight are usually the ones who have difficulty dealing with that latent part of themselves and loath homosexuality (or heterosexuality which ever the cse may be) because they have the random dream/thought/turn-on which hey are programed to believe is completely wrong.

As society becomes more tolerant of homosexuality, bisexuality, et al, we will find that more ad more people will switch back and forth between 'gay and straight'.

Which brings me to the final part of the problem. She most likely is truly bisexual and knows it on one level or another. She considered herself "straight" when in a relationship of a mixed gender kind. She most likely left the dude for other reasons but found a woman who she had chemistry with, thus now identifies as 'lesbian' since she is in a relationship of same gender. Perhaps at some later time she will leave this woman and find another man who meets her then present needs and once again she will be 'straight'.

Sexual Identity is a complex thing for many people, it can change as their view of self changes however they are only hiding from a greater broader truth (bisexuality) in most cases.

I am a lesbian and my entire life I have wished I was straight. I do accept myself and don't think there is anything WRONG with being homosexual. But, this is one hard life to live and it would be so much easier to be straight. Unfortunately, I have never had the capacity to feel romantic love or sexual attraction for a man. I like men. I prefer to hang out with men. I am raising a male child, who is the love of my life and the most important reason for living. But, I cannot be in a romantic relationship with a man. Trust me, I have tried. Unfortunately that makes me choose to be single/celibate most of the time. I rarely find another woman who has the same values and standards or who wants to live the same farm/self sufficient lifestyle. But, I accept that as well. I figure these are the cards I drew in this lifetime, so will do the best with what I have. I find it really sad how stereotyped lesbians have become. The "L Word" is not even close to reality in most of America. Anyway, you really should get to know a lot of different lesbians from various places around the country, BEFORE you start judging us and sterotyping us.

Hmmmm... there's something about this, I need to research further, but male and female homosexuality is for the most part a lifestyle choice, there are some medical or hormonal influences, but my understanding is that it's not common.
Media has a huge influence on lifestyle these day though and I think a portion of blame lays at their feet.

I see it happen quite often to married people I know. I've seen it happen so many times, it no longer surprises me anymore. These are women who are married with children, and very suddenly they just left without notice and took their kids (still babies actually) and moved in with another woman.
