Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 887648 United States 02/12/2010 02:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lead Meteorologist, The Weather Channel Feb. 12, 2010 1:31 am ET After dropping record amounts of snow in the Dallas Metroplex yesterday a vigorous storm will spread a nasty taste of winter eastward along the I-20 corridor today into tonight. A band of two to four inches of snow with locally higher amounts will run from Shreveport, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi to Atlanta, Georgia today into tonight. A few locations across south central Alabama and Mississippi could see four to six inches of snow before all is said and done. The snow will be of a wet and heavy nature which threatens to weigh down power lines enough to ultimately lead to power outages in those areas where the heaviest snows fall. Further south, for places like Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida a cold rain will initially fall before the precipitation switches over to a wet snow before ending late this afternoon or evening. The storm will reach a position just off the South Carolina coast by late tonight. Once it reaches this point it is expected to intensify which will spread snow up the South Carolina coast bringing accumulating snows to places like Charleston and Myrtle Beach before pulling out to sea Saturday morning. Quoting: freeoneThe ice sucks for you down there. Did you get rain first before the snow? My sister lives down there and said that ice was coming down like crazy. It has been a mix all day and mega sleet under the snow tonight means hazardous driving and that it will take a while to melt or get any roads cleared anytime soon. |
