Just for the record. New breed of wild dog.

I saw a pair of these back in 2000 trotting a river trail across from my location. They were evil looking and wouldn't want to meet up with them on my side of the river.

I was sitting in my car just watching the water. What ever they were stopped across from me and noticed me first in the car before I saw them. Then they trotted off. Real easy fast gate too. Could tell they could cover some ground.

Re: Just for the record. New breed of wild dog.
I cant beleive National Geographic did a show on this.
It's more then clear the animal is a coyote with mange !!

Mange means the animal gets a parasite, which causes the hair to fall out, and the skin looks dark and rubbery.

Just saying. It's nothing more then that.

Uggghhhhh !! Can't believe anyone would buy into this.

Not a coyote. First off they are a bit larger and second they have short hair. Like I say. Seen them.

Right, but A coyote with mange will not have any hair, like the one in the video. If you noticed the run of the animal, it was similar to that of a coyote as well.

There was nothing unusual about the fangs, nor the paws

Not that I'm doubting YOU OP. I'm doubting the breed of new dog, and NatGeos choice to show a program on this.

I'm telling you, it's a coyote.

I watched it 3 times. Not seeing the stripes. Im dead serious too. I'm looking for photos of coyotes with mange, and as the guy said in the video this new breed of dog has a smaller lower jaw. All photo's I'm finding of coyotes show they have lower smaller jaws.

I guess I was looking for the stripes to confirm what I'd seen before. Kinda like a merl in a boxer or Great Dane.

The heads of the dogs had a bigger mussel area than a coyote.

Some people are saying the coyotes back east are actually not coyotes but a small wolf-coyote hybrid. Apparently they've been studying the DNA of the dogs who killed that Canadian musician woman and found this.

I'd agree with this. Seen a coyote coming down the road here in front of the farm. Big healthy and size of a small wolf.

1st photo is a coyote I would think. Second photo I don't think is.

These dogs I saw put you in mind of a Hyena.

Had to look up how to spell Hyena and look what I found for a definition.

Any of several large strong nocturnal carnivorous Old World mammals. Interesting.

Re: Just for the record. New breed of wild dog.
Okay that is two different programs I have watched that have both gotten their hands on these creatures and said they were going to take them for testing. The other video was from a while ago, haven't they figured out what it is yet, how come no answers yet? Or do they already know what they are and just picking up the remains and disposing of them? Like wtf?

I doubt these creatures would attack a man. But a child would be in a world of hurt if encountered by these things.

Re: Just for the record. New breed of wild dog.
My dad had a dog that looked like the second photo. It had gotten into a moving van in South Carolina, when my sister moved home. They opened the van and out jump the dog. kind of shy at first but dad had away with animals, and the dog finally had the rule of the place, real smart dog.

Okay. But Hyenas are much bigger then a coyote. The second photo is a coyote cause it came from a coyote website.

Till today the only line I'd had on these things was a tiger dog they called it. Was in africa to boot. Be nice if there was a clearing house of information on these and other creatures.

I agree with the Hyena likeness, at the end of the video the live walking "dog" had that feel also.
