Quoting: Anonymous Coward 471789They will starve to death, locked behind bars and abandoned. I really couldn't see that happening...It's hard for me to imagine someone just leaving any human to simply die without giving them an opportunity to survive......I suppose there are those that would....... . If it is a sudden die off from say disease, then most will be part of the first to contract said disease and die. Those who survive depending on what holding facility may live a bit longer trapped in a cell until lack of food and/or water gets them. Or if they are lucky they escape. If they are your typical criminal type that is in our prison system, they will most likely find someplace to 'blend in' and take advantage of the New World Order. Having street smarts (most likely) they will rise to the top of what ever colony of survivors exist. IF they are a real hardened, repeat offender like a murder, an organized crime type, they most likely would quickly rise to the top and become the leader and use their power to 'influence' the local area. Most likely it will be the biggest baddest MF from a prison who will reboot civilization. If it is a slow predictable break from our world into something worse, then there are orders to 'clean up' the prison in the worst case scenarios, (kill them all) where there is no recovery in the long run. Of course this order most likely sits in the provisos in the governors office and you typical prison guard has no idea. Warden might have an idea. As I recall, Reagan passed a nuclear bill that stipulated that criminals would be rounded up and taken to safety areas with the rest of the population. However they would be put on work programs to assist in the survival of the remaining population. The joke was that they would all be handed brooms and be sent out to sweep up the radioactive dust. Slave labor! If they can't get you to be a slave to pay off your debt, then they are just going to throw you in somewhere.. personally I think before this whole other economic collapse happens again.. I think a bill will be passed that states that you have to pay off all your debt or serve time. |

You guys paint a pretty gloomy picture for prisoners if things go bad. I would not want to be in prison if and when SHTF........... . Anonymous Coward User ID: 866921 United States 03/02/2010 08:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know there are folks from all over the planet that come here which I think makes this sight great, but my question is more focused on what will happen if things really do get bad here in America. Is there anybody, perhaps some prison guards that can shed some light on what if any protocols are in place in case of a major collapse of government or a nation wide natural disaster? I guess it would be interesting to know what would take place in other countries if something really bad were to happen..... Quoting: teamsterno worries...they will/have gotten the swine flu shot |
