Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | bb, i was thinking the same things as you last nite. i watched two one-hour specials, as well, Vertigo and Frozen in time. Quite amazing stuff really, and I donīt know what to think either. Real, hoax, both, what? I wish Penn and Teller would come out and say something, if they can, about him. btw, did you see the bit where he brought a dead bird in the park back to life? did that really happen? if so, how come more people arenīt talking about this guy? |

(OP) 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One of the videos I watched of his magic I saw how he did one of his tricks. Did you see when he had a coin in his hand and bit it in half and then had people blow on it and it came back as a whole coin? If you replay it in slow motion you can see itīs a trick coin and it just bends backward and looks like itīs half a coin and then he lets go and it pops back into a whole coin. It happens so fast the eye canīt pick it up but the slow motion or slow frame replay can pick it up. You could probably figure out other tricks by doing the same thing. The hand is quicker than the eye. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One trick he did was ask a girl on the street to imagine 2 colors then take a walk in her mind to a certain location and turn the colors into a picture. He had some guys a couple of blocks away paint a random picture on a wall and not tell him what they were going to paint. As he walked with the girl to the wall he asked her what the colors and the picture were. Before they turned the corner she said brown and pink and the picture was an eye. A second later they were around the corner and could see the wall. On it was a eye done in brown and pink. I thought it was a pretty cool trick. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No...they are all tricks. Nothing paranormal about the guy. A friend of my daughter is into magic and he got this book or download or whatever you want to call it. He can do almost every Blaine trick pretty convincingly including the levitation. (OP) 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ghostsister what you said here... >>>Tarot cards are not magic, they are a tool used to channel inner power, which interestingly he learned at a young age. David has learned to tap into powers unrelated to pulling rabbits out of a hat. His magic is real and very close to the dark side, slightly sinister.<<<< that fits what I think to a tee, exactly! that guy is too good and kinda spooky. He definitely has learned something.. Kinda like that little guy in Flordia who built the coral castle levitating multi ton stones around all by himself. Rather than some kind of magic its more like some kind of power. I think he may have some "tricks" good ones too but there is more to that guy I am willing to bet than just tricks. |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hereīs how to do some of his tricks. Effect The performer asks the spectator to pick a card without him seeing the face and replace it in the pack. The pack is then shuffled and the performer is apparently unsuccesful in locating the card. After a few attempts ,the cards are thrown against a window in a fit of rage , on looking at the window , the chosen card is seen to be sticking to it , even more surprising is the fact that the card is on the inside of the window. Preparation You will need two identical packs of cards and a willing helper. Method This trick should be performed in an area with a large window nearby and with the spectator facing away from the window. The spectator is asked to choose a card from a pack , memorise it and without showing you , replace the card in the pack. The pack is then shuffled and and a couple of attempts at "is this your card " tried followed by a look of disbelief when the spectator tells you that it is not their card ( this is all part of the act as you dont and dont even need to know the card). After a few attempts you fake an angry outburst and making sure the cards are squared up , throw the pack broadside at the window , where they will hit the window and fall to the ground except the chosen card which is stcking to the window. Your helper was already positioned behind the window and spectator and had an identical pack of cards. He was able to see the chosen card and took the duplicate from his pack. A small piece of looped sticky tape or magicians wax was attached to the duplicate card and it was stuck to the inside of the window. The helper should then have walked away from the window. This trick creates a real surprise but it is important to pick up the fallen cards quickly and to pocket the original chosen card. ---------------------------------------------- Effect: A name is written on a piece of paper on a notepad by the spectator, the paper is torn off unseen by the magician, crumpled up and placed in an ashtray. It is then set alight. The ashes are then rubbed on the magicians arm and the name of the person written on the paper mysteriously appears. Preparation: You will need a small notepad, pen, ashtray, lighter and a small piece of soap or wax. Method: The spectator is asked to write the name of a person or favourite anything of theirs on a notepad. Then to tear of the sheet of notepaper, crumple it up and place it in the ashtray, where the magician then sets the paper alight. The magician takes the notepad of the spectator and should be able to see the imprint of the name written on the paper above in the next sheet of the notepad. Looking at the pad should not be made obvious and some misdirection carried out while he carefully takes the small piece of wax or soap and writes the name on the imprint on his arm or hand (this action should not be visible to anyone ). The magician can then take some ash from the ashtray and rub it over the wax where it will stick and create an impression of the spectators word to their amazement. This is a great trick but depends on the magician creating an atmosphere with an entertaining routine and patter about black magic to enhance the effect and create misdirection to allow him time to pull off the tri |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes most of those are great tricks however, how do you explain where he flat out asks a person to think of a card, not the ace of spades, looks into their eyes and says jack of diamonds or whatever and they almost faint because he just guesses it or reads their mind. That one is unexplainable. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | heh yeah people come on this thread saying "oh, whatever! theyīre just parlor tricks, all of them! illlusions!" but they seem to forget his other "magic tricks": where he guesses what cards people are thinking of flat out, turns empty beer cans into full ones (same brand), tells a homeless guy to think of a card, opens a deck, and then we see that the card the homeless guy was thinking of was the only card upside in the unopened pack? these are tricks you cannot teach people, or read in a book. the trick where the card the little girl was thinking of ended up in her back pocket? watch his card tricks closely next time you see his program, there is no slight of hand. one, for isntance, involves a dallas coach holding two cards.. they DO NOT leave the camera view at all, yet, they are changed from two hearts to two spades without blaine even touching them. the coach is holding them the entire time. there are just too many to list, they arent all tricks. either he is truly psychic and has the ability to affect matter, or the people on his programs are actors. |
