Mr.Clean User ID: 917282 United States 05/06/2010 06:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My knee jerk reaction was, I am sure there are plenty in Texas that will be happy to aid in the burning of that in small amounts at a time. That said, why not try selling/giving it to sellers in California for example. No seriously.... California will even make money (sales tax) on it. Yes, we Californian's are always willing to help our brothers in Texas. |

Arcane shift User ID: 963170 United States 05/06/2010 08:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Brooks County Sheriff's Department has a marijuana problem. They've got 200,000 pounds of pot, and they're complaining that it would be too expensive to destroy it. Quoting: Malcouth"This is a problem that doesn't seem to be going away and anything we can get to help us to dispose of these cases once they're done and to get ready for the next one that are coming in would be a great help," said Deputy Daniel Davila. Something tells me Toke of the Town readers could be of great assistance to the deputy. After all, at a trying time like this, we all have to pitch in, people! All of the confiscated cannabis comes from drug cases over the past decade, reports Manuel De La Rosa at KIII-TV. And for now, all that unwanted weed sits in some storage trailers, awaiting an uncertain fate. The marijuana dates back as far as 2000. According to authorities, the previous sheriff either didn't keep good records, or didn't get destruction orders from judges. It's a priority for the current sheriff to get rid of the hundreds of thousands of pounds of pot. Deputies destroyed some of the bundles of bud with two visits to the Department of Public Safety incinerator in McAllen, Texas last year, but it cost them nearly $30,000. The problem seems to be unwrapping the plastic off the marijuana, commonly used by Mexican drug smugglers, and Brooks County just doesn't have the manpower to do that. The county has a small sheriff's department, with only seven patrol officers and one criminal investigator. "(It's) very time consuming," Deputy Davila said. "Probably for preparation to get it ready a week or more, whatever trailers we are going to use to transport it up there, and it would take several officers especially to remove the plastic from the contraband." Just for the past 16 months, Brooks County has started keeping more marijuana seized from cases under Sheriff Rey Rodriguez. Already, they've filled two trailers with pot. The problem is, the dank deluge continues; the cannabis cases keep coming in, and the weed just stacks up higher and higher. The only place deputies can currently destroy the pot is at the DPS Lab in McAllen, but plans are afoot to pool resources in the Coastal Bend to destroy the weed locally. County officials believe that would be less costly and might solve their marijuana storage problems. [link to www.tokeofthetown.com] Dude!!! no problem send it to my house. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 963236 United States 05/06/2010 08:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | texas cops are mighty stupid i know i could help out... i mean shit, ill take all of it off their hands. problem solved... result = one happy... uh nm so sad people today are still kind of scared to even mention marijuana in a conversation as if it is taboo, OH WHAT A HORRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE DRUG... if only more people thought for themselves and actually would read more into it than accepting what's told to them on TV i mean, let's see... a plant that is grown naturally that makes you feel good ... ITS HORRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE FOR YOU!!!!!!!!! jeez, how many deaths are caused within a year by alcohol? how many deaths caused due to marijuana consumption in a year? im not one for statistics... but when the numbers of two comparables are grossly disproportionate, it's pretty safe to say it's probably accurate in the sense of comparability. it gives you a great idea :) when will we stop allowing these men to rule us as gods? they are nothing special. soon their card castle will crumble entirely. |

I sold weed for several years till I got popped and went to prison. Just like anything else- gold diamonds, gold etc..., if that weed were to suddenly hit the streets, on top of what's coming in (if it's any quality herb) the price of weed would become incredibly dirt cheap. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 715324 United States 05/06/2010 11:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They can't sell it to anybody like California. This stuff came off the streets. Nobody knows if it's laced with other drugs, toxins, etc. If someone used it and ended up dying there would be a major lawsuit. Also, there is no assurance of quality. Much of it is probably crap. Also most of it is OLD! |

User ID: 960186 United Kingdom 05/07/2010 12:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 200000 pound???? It is some SERIOUS CASH right there. Why don't they send them down to CA??? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 585354We need them to BAIL US OUT. How much does 200000 pounds of goodies cost??? Say $100 per ounce X 16 per pound X 200,000 = $320,000,000.00 Now how much did it cost in resources to gather that much? What if it were regulated like Alcohol? CA made 100 Billion last year on legal pot. Why does Obama not use this money to PAY for his OBAMACARE??? 320000000 dollars can bail out a lot of states, companies, and people. HOw did Texans manage to COLLECT that much over the YEAR??? This was ONE county over a ten year period. In South Texas they seize it by the pound and sometimes by the ton. Just think, how much damage a ton of bio/chemical weapons could do. If they can get pot in, they can get weapons in. And if California ruins their market...they WILL. |
