When the revolution comes, what will we change about the Constitution?
This is just an exorcise in "what if". What if there is another revolution? What if we can't save the union? After the next revolution, we will need to tweak the constitution to prevent similar problems in the future. Of coarse 2nd amendment will have to be clarified, but how will we stop the progressive take over of the new union? We will obviously need a new name. What will the new union be called, and who will it include? You know some of the east coast states and California will not help our cause. We will, of coarse not want to take on the debt the progressives have accumulated over the last 100 years. I think the constitution we have now is a great document, but it needs cleared up a little so we don't need to defend it in the Supreme Court every year.
The most important question is, how do we stop the same thing from happening again. How do we stop the illegals taking over from the south, and how do we stop the Muslim radicals taking over in the cities?
What about our money? We can't have the same money as the states that don't go with us, that would make it too easy to destroy our economy. We sure as hell wouldn't want to be responsible for the O-bots debt.

What about citizenship for the people living here? A new country would have to decide who is and who isn't citizens. I think this subject could cause a lot of head-aches.

Maybe, on a small scale, but not a permanent situation. The events coming will moot this point:

Re: When the revolution comes, what will we change about the Constitution?
Not much needs to change....it's a good document.

Just have to enforce it, such as States Rights pre-empt over limited Federal role and responsibilities.

Fully enforce the 1st and 2nd amendment....learn the meaning of the word "infringe"...

things to add:

- you don't become a citizen by being born here, unless the parents are also citizens. No more of illegals coming across the borders and dropping a baby here and the kid is automatically a "citizen"...

- add an amendment that Congress will not pass any laws on the US Citizens which do not ALSO apply fully to Congress - such as mandatory health care they passed ( despite massive public disapproval) instead of their special tax-payer funded congressional health care.....and many other examples.

- raises for Congress have to be ratified by Citizen votes. No more of this voting themselves raises.

.Add amendment of Term Limits for Congress, and pensions are pro-rated by number of terms held. No more of this crap of holding 1 term of confrssional office and getting full pension for rest of their life. Also make it that pensions are not drawn on until same age for retirement as the rest of the public.
- outlaw deficit spending - Congress can only spend what has been saved.

nonetheless, we're not going to build our constitution around current technologies and social mores around universal philosophical imperatives.

i want freedom! FREEDOM I SAY! you pussies can settle for less after you bury me. for me to be truly free, the government will SERVE ME. and to ensure this reality, the government shall have no arms at its disposal that i don't have. understand. write it in stone.

TO ENSURE THE FREEDOM OF FUTURE GENERATIONS THE US GVT WILL HAVE NO WEAPONS THAT US CITIZENS CANNOT HAVE.

Re: When the revolution comes, what will we change about the Constitution?
Our founding fathers never intentioned that holding office would be a full time job. They envisioned that every officer/representative held full time jobs in the private sector, and that their position of authority was to be part time.

So I'd posit that there be a scheduled time of gathering for matters pertaining to government, with a clause for meeting during special circumstances, and that the pay grade runs between $25/day to $100/day, depending on time/experience. I also posit that time limits be enforced, of which 8 years is the maximum in a lifetime for a politician. Make it somewhat like jury duty, where everyone gets a chance (if they are so inclined), but no one wants to make a career out of it. No more lifetime politicians; no more impossibility for Ma Jones or Pa Doe to serve his country...office would be open to any law abiding citizen without having to have a fortune to "run for office".

Also, I posit for it to become a felony if it's found that government officers are taking money (bribes, payoffs) for special interests and pork. On top of the 3 branches, I'd include a 4th branch, which is comprised of citizens of all walks of life, from every state, which would keep an eye out for any and all infringements that the other 3 branches commit. This group, of course, would be voluntary, much like we do here on GLP, watching...but this group would have power to bring charges against anyone in the other 3 branches, and try them in court if the judicial branch isn't willing to do their job. This group would also "score" the President during regular reviews, just like every employee is reviewed in the work place. Also, the President would make a salary based on performance, with a top scale of $100,000 per year. He/she could NOT hold any investments, or have ANY conflicts of interests, etc.

All employees of government (state and federal) would receive no greater than minimum wage, with the exceptions of COL raises, and performance/review wages, with a top scale of $15/hr for those who have proven themselves and have put their time in. Pensions would be based on pay rate, after 30 years of service. No automatic pensions. Benefits would be the same as the majority of benefits in the private sectors.

That would be a start.

repeal the 17th admentment. Choosing senators should be a function of states, not the populace. As orinally planned, the states would have their interests represented separate from the general population. It would curtali 'unfunded mandates' and their use of tax dollars to enforce federal fiats

I don't like the way candidates use/collect/and are bought with campgain $.

Every local town/city election should have a spot in the local newspaper for an ad and the town/city should have 2 days of debates and Q&A's in a public forum.

Pretty much the same for everything on up.
2-3 TV ads, and several public debates.

That way even the non millionaires can campaign.

This is a very dangerous idea! I own automatic weapons legally and I have even owned artillery (original 12 pdr. napoleon), I also handle explosives. I can tell you this I have to fill out a lot of paperwork, but I don't mind for the simple reason. I know that there are Bozos out there I wouldn't want easy access to such things.

Should be left totally untouched except for three items:

1. Affirmation of the right to keep and bear arms.
2. Clarification of the 10th amendment that ANY power not specifically granted to the federal government is left to the individual states or the people.
3. ABSOLUTE term limits that stop politics from being a career.

Nobody of dual citizenship or a fraternal membership is allowed to serve in government or public service at all levels. Can't serve two masters. Treason.

Make a distinction on American citizenry: The American resident and the American citizen.

A. The American resident is a citizen that can not participate in American body politic because they are not willing to sacrifice their blood and livelihood to defend their country and beliefs. They are not allowed to vote or hold any political office.

B. The American citizen is a citizen that volunteers four years minimum to military federal service. This type of person is willing to defend and sacrifice their lives for their country. This entitles them with certain privileges, the right to vote and participate in political office. Responsibility, personal sacrifice and defense equals citizenship. Citizens will have precedence over residents with exception to the handicapped and disabled.

C. The American distinguished resident is a citizen that lacks the physical or mental ability to join military federal service but chooses to serve four years in non life threatening capacity. They have earned the right to hold political office but not to vote.

Re: When the revolution comes, what will we change about the Constitution?
Keep everything but amend the 14th amendment about citizenship by birth.

It should read that citizenship by birth is granted only if one or both of the parents are citizens, either natural born or naturalized. Any woman here illegally claiming the father is a citizen must prove paternity with a DNA test.

Also want a Balanced Budget Amendment that bans congressional earmarks. It is the only way to stop the spending in DC.

I would also add one more amendment:

Senate and Congressional Campaign fundraising will be limited to only the residents of the state those running for office seek to represent.

Presidential campaigns will be limited to 6 months for fundraising and 6 months of actual campaigning. Presidential candidates can only accept funds from individuals and not from political action groups or businesses or lobbyists. Fundraising is limited to 50% public funds and 50% private donations.

All media outlets must provide 10 free half-page ads or one minute slots to each actual candidate in elections for federal offices.

The amount of money that is spent on election campaigns is obscene and corrupt. Our campaigns are far too long which is why they are so expensive.

Let's keep everything else in the Constitution which has stood the test of time and served us well for over 200 years.

I feel that Ed (TV) is the apotheosis of a prevailing American syndrome. It used to be that someone became famous because they were special. Now people are considered special just for being famous. Fame, itself, is now a moral good in this country. It's its own virtue.
