Quoting: Anonymous Coward 898092you just never know. it also might be a bad day in the bathroom depends on what you ate the night before. it's okay.. don't panic. Difference is you don't have a lot of control over what happens in the subway. You can't turn on the news and say "Huh, the subway seems to be preforming unnaturally poorly today." Ignoring indicators is never a good idea, even if the premonition doesn't come to pass. |

I have tons of control over my participation in the market. You're telling me to ignore market indicators (as though commenting on it is panicking,) and comparing it eating bad food. |

Because there's a lot to "mope" about. The indicators this morning are very strange. Those interested in financial "games" as you call them, will likely be interested in what I pointed out. It could, and very likely is nothing. However, it deserves a double take. |

Either a rally or flat by end of day. No soom. All other Asian markets were down. You picked the single market that bucked the trend. That is because China JUST overtook Japan as the world's NUMBER TWO largest economy. I think Jake is right. Today could be dangerous to the downside. As in 200 DOW points down if lucky and 300 if things are really in a bad form. |

It's like listening in to conversations in the psyche ward. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1069715Loosing a month's wages is pretty real, gaining also. It could buy you real good psychic drugs. Of course it is all money gained without production and could be very detrimental to economies, but also that is rather real. Time is a great teacher, unfortunately it kills all its pupils. |

It's like listening in to conversations in the psyche ward. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1069715What's funny is people thinking that stock market moves are based on any kind of news. Either journalists/bloggers find a news item that in hindsight 'explains' the price movement (like an Irish Bond auction, or the GDP of Lithuania or one company buying another company) or the come up with a 'reason' why a particular expected news item like the FOMC meetings meant a change in direction for stocks. Some 70-80 % of trading is done by computers. And guess what? They don't read newspapers. |
