I personally will be remembering my Grandfather, John Quinn West, Jr., who was killed in Germany in WWII as a bomber pilot. His plane was shot down, he could have parachuted out with his crew but one crewman was badly injured and couldn't jump. My Grandfather, remained in the plane with the injured crewman so he didn't have to die alone.

I wish I could have known him!

With the poem Flanders field, were the poppies grown in the graveyards as a source of pain-killers for the soldiers wounded but not yet in the grave? That might mean the military is also the best customer for the poppy fields that are growing these days. I wonder if the concept of ending the rows and rows of crosses and the need for the real product poppies supply to the war machines will ever catch on. not likely.



It is also prudent to remember that the military can also be used against the same ones they are meant to protect. The sign of being civilized is the lack of any large armies. The only lesson war is very clear on is the less there is of it the better off all people are, not just the warriors who also receive a pay-check for their time spent in the services in today's times.

A blind soldier who does not have all the facts on who he fights for is only a tool if they are making decisions based on the facts that only one side is promoting. When do their victims become important enough for changes to be demanded and implemented.
