Smoke lots of weed. I mean lots. Smoke as much as you can for 3 days straight and this will cure your anxiety FOREVER. But you must smoke as much as you can, as in 400 dollars worth approx. On the fourth day you will become god.

Its obvious that you need to smoke more.

I must agree, I'm a lightweight though only one or two tokes in the evening. I haven't had any anxiety issues for over a year, thank god for cannabis.

Try this:

Put 2 parts worcestershire sauce, 1 part honey and 3 parts tabasco in a bowl. Mix it thoroughly. Put your index finger in the bowl then ram your finger up your ass.

Try this, buy breads without preservative 282. I buy the woolies brand white usually. When I eat out or have bread with 282 I sometimes have the symptoms you described.

Have fun,

Learning & doing proper breathing techniques are vital. At the 1st sign of a panic attack I breath in slowly on count of 4, hold for 4, then exhale on count of 4. Do this until the panic stops. This always works for me.

Better is Suntheanine chewable tablets
and 5HTP capsules, only when the person
gets that feeling of panic. They work
well are not Rx and at vitamin/health food
stores. Even Jamie takes them when he's
around his rockin kitty kee kat.

Re: Panic Attacks? Anybody got a cure?
I suffer panic attacks once every few months if not more often & im so tired of it, ive tried a couple of SSRI/SNRI type drugs and they dont make a difference the only real thing that helps are benzos (valium, xanax etc) but those drugs are addictive as fuck and not a real long term solution.

I had a panic attack while driving today and had to pull over as i felt my arms going numb & tingly about to lock up. With some deep breathing exercises i was able to only make it a mild panic attack not a full blown body locks up style one but honestly there has to be something out there than prescription drugs that can cure it. Has anybody here who suffers from the same sort of issues ever found a way to avoid it all together.

Also nothing really brings these panic attacks on they just occur randomly for no real reason, im tired of living like this & wish i could find some alternative to the options doctors have offered me!

When you feel the onset, hold your breath. It works, you usually hyperventilate without knowing it at the beginning of an attack. Get a GABA supplement and eat fewer carbs. Avoid caffeine, look up Cognitive Therapy and do a daily mantra/affirmation out loud. This sounds hokey, but it is extremely effective. You will never need drugs again, and you will be back to normal in no time.

I've had really really bad ones in the past....magnesium does help immediately...I am also on an SSRI which is supposed to help too.

I've heard MJ is good for it, however it's illegal here in AZ.

For some reason a cold glass of milk used to help as well.

I had to quit driving on freeways for a while, those were major triggers for me, also my ex husband lolz...(no joke there)

get your sugar levels and hormones checked. When my sugar is low I go into a total panic attack, but it's not, it's your fear because the brain isn't functioning right with too little sugar.

Going hypoglycaemic can cause panic attacks and they are made worse by stimulants and other pharma drugs. Try a low blood sugar diet for a while and get off all prescription drugs.

Re: Panic Attacks? Anybody got a cure?
Thanks for all the advice ill get onto some magnesium as for the 5HTP its difficult to get your hands on that in Australia for some reason i guess big pharma would prefer ya hooked on benzos or SSRI's than something helpful like 5htp. Although a quick search on google came up with a few webpages to buy it from in Australia so im not sure, also i should really start taking my fish oil tablets again seeing i have a massive pack of them but i always forget to take them!!!

As for smoking weed i can no longer do that over long spans of time without having side effects & the first few tokes usually always send me into a panic attack these days and i cant really get any benefits until i become used to it again.

Honestly its probably the years of smoking weed when i was a teenager that has left me like this along with all the MDMA i consumed. I only really smoke weed occasionally these days along with a psychedelic type drug once every 6 or so months as i find them helpful to look inside my mind & fix things.

From the looks of what people have said i think the first step i need to take is a healthier life style probably quitting cigarettes etc.

Its a pity xanax is so horribly addictive because ive found it really helps day to day life.

For the person that said they used to suffer from these sort of attacks every day, wow that would have been horrible i dread getting them semi frequently dont know how i could cope with daily style attacks.

Usually after its happen and i calm down an hour or so later i find im the least tense ive can think of since just after my last attack.

I really appreciate everybody's feedback & it makes me feel better to know that im not the only one out there who suffers from such a horrible thing.

I figured id have one coming soon after having the month from hell losing my stable job, being unemployed & broke for 2 weeks & trying to find a job before everything shut down for xmas & working out how to pay my rent. I was too stubborn to ask parents or anybody for help in that time & only told them about what had happen once i was back up on my feet with a new job.

Anyways thanks again to all the people with serious replies, sometimes just talking about it all helps a bit too i guess :)

Watch the news on TV. Everything is fine. Keep your money in the bank. Buy something you can't afford on credit. Go to Walmart and buy some unnecessary Chinese crap, these should help you to feel like a "normal" American... move along... nothing to see here.

P.S. Smile... it will help... tells you're brain, everything is ok... sounds stupid but give it a try.

Re: Panic Attacks? Anybody got a cure?
OP, I know exactly what you're going through as I've experienced the same thing. Panic attacks are horrible and are very real for the person experiencing them. My panic attacks hit an all time high about two years ago. My panic attacks morphed into a fear of having a deadly allergic reaction to food. I've never been alergic to any food. For months I wouldn't eat anything unless it was considered a "safe" food. I don't know where this fear and the panic attacks came from but I have since freed myself from them through conscious thought.

I realized that I "thought" myself into the fear and I had to think myself out of it. If I found myself thinking a fearful thought, I would stop everything. I would realize what I was thinking then I would change my thought to something positive.

Day by day, week by week I began to feel less fear. Gradually, I was able to eat food I wouldn't allow myself to eat before. Over a period of a few months, I was feeling free of the control fear had over me. Now, it's hard to imagine ever feeling that type of fear again. All the panic attacks are gone and so is my fear of food. I have my life back. I am free and it feels sooo good. You can do it too. It's all in your mind and there is a part of you that knows it.

When you feel a panic attack coming on, that is the time to get control of your thoughts. Tell yourself you're having a panic attack. You're not going to die. You're going to be fine. Take control of your breathing, nice deep breaths. Try to center yourself. Keep telling yourself you know what is happening and that it will pass and you'll be fine. When you do this time after time, I think you will find that your panic attacks will be less frequent and will be less severe.

I found a meditation at www.themedidationpodcast.com or you can find Jesse & Jeane Stern's free podcast on iTunes called "Releasing Fear". I would listen to that meditation at night in bed before I fell asleep. I know it helped.

I wish you all the best. You CAN do it.

I was actually agoraphobic for a long time. So I couldn't leave my house without having a full blown panic attack. Shaking, vomiting, brought on fever etc. It was horrible. I am now happy and healthy and on no medications whatsoever and NO MORE PANIC ATTACKS.

Omega 3,6, & 9. Take them! After about 1-2 months you will notice a DRASTIC difference! That combined with analyzing my fear have brought me peace.

In the time being something that always worked for me was as soon as I noticed I was getting anxious I would RELAX MY STOMACH! You won't believe how much you tighten your abs when anxious. Then focus on your breathing while keeping your abs relaxed. 9 times out of 10 this will keep anxiety from turning into a panic attack.

Also as someone else mentioned keep a journal of them so you can find out your triggers if you don't already know. Also it makes for a fun read to go back and look at once you've mastered your fear. You realise just how irrational you were being.

Slow deep breathing is a good way to get your panic attack under control. In addition to deep breathing I suggest that you wear a pendant locket around your neck with two frames for pictures. In one of the frames put a picture of the Christian Cross. In the other frame put a picture of a peaceful valley or meadow or pasture with farm animals. When you start to feel a panic attack coming on start the deep breathing and open the locket and look at the Cross and the peaceful scene. Good luck and God bless you.

Greens! Trader Joes sells them for $11 a bottle. I am sure any health food store would have a version of the "greens". They are veggies in a capsule. They alkalize! It's a PH thing. Too acidic.

I had panic attacks for a three year period. Was perscribed klonapin. It was so bad I had become almost homebound. (Afraid to go anywhere.) I started taking the greens and they ceased the first week in taking them. Haven't had one since! I took 12 a day. Check out your dose by using the muscle test. Good luck! I do believe it will work for you too!

Re: Panic Attacks? Anybody got a cure?
Just read your last post. In regards to 5HTP I have heard many great things about it! It's actually an amino acid that your body makes naturally when eating foods containing Tryptophan.

How to Increase Tryptophan levels

If there is deficiency in tryptophan, consuming foods high in tryptophan cannot increase its levels in the blood stream at odd times. The reason is other amino acids such as tyrosine, histidine and leucine conflict with tryptophan from accessing the brain. Therefore, eating food rich in protein would increase the level of other amino acids resulting in the reduction of tryptophan. However, you could increase the levels of tryptophan
•by consuming tryptophan supplements.
•In take of food high in tryptophan on an empty stomach.
•intake food high in tryptophan only so it does not conflict with other proteins or amino acids.
Foods High in Tryptophan

You must be aware of the fact amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and help in neurotransmission of messages to and from the brain. There are times eating certain kinds of food could make you feel relaxed, feel good and at times drowsy. These are some foods rich in tryptophan. For instance, some people feel tired after consuming grilled turkey. This is because turkey is a meat rich in tryptophan. The other foods high in tryptophan include the following

Milk - Drinking milk before going to bed at night is a good idea. This allows you to sleep well at night. Soy milk is also a good source of tryptophan.

Meat - Both red and lean meat such as beef, mutton, chicken and turkey are rich in tryptophan.

Cheese - Add cheese to your daily diet. You could use various kinds of cheese such as cottage cheese, cheddar, Swiss cheese, tofu and so on. Gruyere, a variety of swiss cheese very rich in tryptophan.

The other major foods high in tryptophan includes fruits such as bananas, all kinds of nuts including hazel nuts, fish, eggs, yogurt, roasted seeds of pumpkin, sesame and sunflower. Consumption of red or brown rice would also help to increase the tryptophan in the blood stream.

When you consume foods high in carbohydrate, the body immediately releases insulin to clear the amino acids that compete with tryptophan. Tryptophan is not affected by insulin; hence once the other amino acids are cleared by insulin, tryptophan reaches the brain. This is reason why, you feel drowsy after consuming foods high in carbohydrate and this could be also the reason why carbohydrate is known as the "comfort" food.

Remember you always get more out of eating healthy than taking supplements...

Yeh its hard to find a trigger for it the times they have happen in the car ive felt them coming on all day so i think maybe in the back of my mind getting in the car and the fear of having one while in the middle of a busy road or something brings those ones on.

My new job has been a struggle as i really dont enjoy being around new groups of people & ive gone from working in a nice quiet warehouse with only 2 people to a massive busy go go go warehouse with like 20-30 people working at a time. The old me could handle those situations fine but the way i am these days im fairly anti social at work so i dont really attempt to make friends or meet people.

I just had a look at the fish oil tablets i have and they only have omega 3 in them. Can you obtain ones that contain omega 3, 6 & 9 together?

The breathing i usually find only sorta puts the attack at bay for a few extra hours then it builds up more and more intensity the more times i avoid it or it can linger around for days until its released.

Well this thread has given me a lot to think about :)

Do you smoke pot? If so stop holding your hits in. Dont hold them in at all. Chronic Hyperventilation is very common among pot smokers and divers....anyone who holds their breath alot. It mimics panic attacks. If your symptoms are mostly with breathing and not actual chest pains as mine are...ie I feel like im breathing but not getting any air. I know I am, but my mind starts to run wild and I feel like Im not getting enough air. When this starts you need to sit up strait in a chair then lean forward keeping your back strait and rest both elbows on your knees. Take several deep belly breaths in this position and you should be GTG.

Hemp seed oil has a perfect blend of 3,6, & 9!

I know exactly what you mean, once you have a bad panic attack you start to fear the panic attack itself! Then you are in one hell of a catch 22!

You want to keep them at bay even if it makes you feel anxious for a long time because the longer you keep yourself from having a true panic attack. The more you will forget the awful feeling. Which over time will help heal the fear.

It's one hell of a mind fuck. But you will come out stronger in the end. Life is ALL about mastering your emotions.

See if there are any sociopathic people in your world.
Most people have no idea how to recognize them. Learn about sociopaths/narcissistic personality disorder.

Everyone I've known that had panic attacks was involved in someway with a sociopath (boss, best friend, husband, etc.)
Panic attacks stopped once they got the person out of their lives.
