Hey, good for you. I am so into simplifying my life and surroundings. How much "stuff" do we need? I have/had way too much. It was a hindrance. The more things I get rid of the freer I feel. Loving it.

I threw it all away, no joke. You can have everything in life. But, if it gets wound up in webs its just a carcass. You have time, start over. Positive growth from a dismal situation is a win-win, for you and your loved ones.

Having you been feeling less sentimental about stuff too, MO? I just threw some stuff out a couple days ago that used to mean a lot to me, and they mean nothing to me now. I still have a few good memory items, but I've been majorly downsizing.

I stared feeling the same way about 1 yr. ago as well ! I look around my house and see so many uneeded 'things'. I have so much crap in my closets that I need to just toss. I wish I felt unfettered as well. Some days I just feel like selling my place and travel with a backpack on to other countries.

Yes, but it's also hard when you have a Baby Boomer mother- she was talking about iPads and things lately over the phone...and all I could do was go "uh huh" while thinking about how our stock markets and economy is gearing up to crash.

Sure, that iPad will be useful when I'm out on the streets or at war (which is where most of the youth will be heading, either way, if things keep on going crazy)? Same with with all those stupid video games (which my PS3 broke- but I haven't gotten fixed yet- could care less actually)? Do I really need 6 jackets and 10 pairs of shoes and tons of things I also never use much anymore?

I threw away literally 95% of my shit last year. Best decision I ever made. A mountain of useless shit surrounding you really does weight heavily on the mind. I feel like my mind is MUCH clearer. General rule of thumb, if you haven't used it in a year, chuck it.

I have a collection of things... I used to be really fond of it. But now I feel as if I went a little far on my collection, I feel like I want to free up as much space as possible and have everything really clean. It's weird. It's quite an urge I have had lately.

I will keep my favorite of the sentimental things, but the rest is going to find a new home and maybe bring some happiness to some other people.

Don't just throw your stuff away. Find some people who are truely needy and donate it. You can make a lot of people happy!

You aren't suicidal are you? Cause that is sort of a sign when people want to give everything away. If you just want to go back to nature, that is ok. There seems to be a movement of people who living in tiny houses and don't have a lot of stuff. As long as it makes you happy, go for it.

But also make some other people happy. Spread the stuff around to a lot of people.

Yep had a garage sale last weekend. I rented one of those big dumpsters from the rubbish company. Everything we didn't sell went into the bin.

But my wife and I are preparing to bug soon.

Wow I felt really alone in this. I have accumulated so many "things" throughout life I can't really stand it anymore. There is no need...all I need is information, love, and creativity -- cheesy as that might sound.

I'm leaving my house in a few months because I stopped caring about many things I felt were blinding me from living a true life (like materials). I think my boyfriend and I are going to leave 90% of the things -- or sell/give away whatever we can.

So yay for not being alone about that.

You are beginning to prepare. Listen to your instinct , it tells you these things for a reason. Make sure that you give things to a legitimate charity, church or rescue mission. If you give in this time, you will receive when things are needed.

Nope that is how I feel.

Just this week cleared out a lot of stuff and gave it away. Someday I would love to live old-school Asian style...futon on the floor, white walls, windows open to show a beautiful garden. Simple environment makes it easier to ponder the mysteries of the universe.

I am considering getting a kindle eventually because I don't even like having all these books around me.

Oh, and I am thinking I have changed my mind about selling my tractor/backhoe. It's even at the place to be soled but I think I should leave it at the ranch as long as I can.
