ya know I used to pay close attention to this stuff but the fact of the matter is unless its a large 'earth directed' X class doesn't seem to be a concern.
Quoting: Danger Dan The chance of major DOOM is slim, yet very real. If you use satellites, radio communications, air travel, or the electric power grid; it IS a concern. It doesn't take a large X-flare to cause problems. Personally, as an astronomy buff, I find it an exciting and educational hobby to be at the cutting-edge of science. With trillions of stars in the universe, I find it astounding that astrophysicists are often baffled by the closest star to Earth. Oh, and the Sun is the maintainer of every form of life we know of in the entire cosmos. And it's largely unpredictable... which makes it fun, too.
