I first encountered this slime in 1990 when he was running [as a Democrat!] for Governor here in Kansas. I was filming a documentary at the time and interviewed Phelps and his in-bred clan onsite at their VERY FIRST anti-gay protest. I realized then that this man carried EVIL, and not GOD in his veins and further research by myself and others soon proved correct. Court documents relating to a case brought against Phelps for Spousal and Child abuse were quickly sealed by he and his cadre of legal shills. Phelps was eventually disbarred and now cannot personally practice law. Beatings with an Ax handle- throwing his [constantly pregant] wife and children down a flight of stairs; forcing his children to support him by selling candy on the street... these were all common as stated in the eventually leaked documents. Here in Kansas we continue to apologize for this living scum and await the day we can properly honor his grave as he has dishonored the funerals of so many others. I just hope the European community has laws on their books that can finally put this hideous creature behind bars where he belongs. |

Keep looking~~~ I´m sure you´ll eventually find the doorway leading out. |

Relatedly, we hear that the Swedish Chef (pic.) has consulted Kermit and Piggy over comments Stinky Phelps made claiming, in part, that the culinary-inclined Muppet "looks like he takes his stuffing up the rear" and his pickled herring "look slimy and gray." Responding to the King´s actions, the Phelps clan has announced that they will picket in Stockholm on Labor Day, Sept. 5. In response to the Muppet´s actions, the Phelps clan reportedly can´t get that damn "Mahna Mahna, doodoodoodoo" song out of their hate-filled heads. Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: American Baptist Minister plans trip to Sweden w/congregation to HUNT DOWN SWEDISH KING CARL GUSTAF Swedish royals call in the lawyers over preacher The Swedish royal family has brought in the lawyers against a fundamentalist preacher in Kansas who said that the royal children look “slutty and gay”. Fred Phelps, of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, is well-known for his anti-gay website God Hates Fags. Sweden first came to his attention last year, when pastor Åke Green was convicted under hate crimes legislation for a sermon on homosexuality. This inspired Phelps to start a website called God Hates Sweden, on which he refers to Sweden as a “land of sodomy, bestiality and incest.” Now Phelps has turned his attention to the royal family. He says that Princesses Madeleine and Victoria and Prince Carl Philip “look slutty and gay”. Using obscene language, he implies that King Carl Gustaf is gay. Phelps publishes photos of the royals that he claims were sent to him by a Swede to persuade him that “Sweden is a land of wholesome family values.” “It won’t work,” Phelps insists. The palace has sent a link to the site to its lawyers, but press secretary Ann-Christine Jernberg concedes that there is probably little they can do, as it is hard to get such sites shut down. “But I think that it is frightful to defame people in this way,” she told Svenska Dagbladet. |

HUNTER Staff Writer Members of a virulently anti-gay Kansas church plan to demonstrate outside two Midstate National Guard funerals tomorrow, an action that has the military community incensed. The two guardsmen killed last week in Iraq from the 278th Regimental Combat Team were Sgt. Gary L. Reese Jr. of Ashland City and Staff Sgt. Asbury F. Hawn Jr. of Lebanon. Members of Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan. — which has the Web site godhatesfags.com — plan to picket outside the services. The church was established 50 years ago by the Rev. Fred Phelps, whose followers say America has been co-opted by gays, and God´s wrath is therefore rightfully killing soldiers. "Honestly, I think it´s disrespectful," said Reese´s father, Gary Reese. "The irony is my son lost his life trying to spread the freedom that grants these people the right to do this. I don´t appreciate it, and I certainly don´t support it." This summer, the unaffiliated church group has picketed funerals of troops killed in the war across the country, at places including Arlington National Cemetery. Before the military protests started, the group picketed AIDS patient funerals and the funerals of newsmakers such as U.S. Sen. Albert Gore Sr. and singer-turned-politician Sonny Bono. The church consists largely of Phelps´ children, grandchildren and in-laws. It also has protested conservative organizations such as Bob Jones University in South Carolina for not fully embracing his message. Shirley Phelps-Roper, the church´s lawyer and Phelps´ daughter, said the military funeral protests are to draw attention to how America has transgressed. "This nation is being punished," Phelps-Roper said Tuesday in a telephone interview. "Our job is to make America know her abomination. So we have to be timely and we have to be topical. We have to help America connect the dots. In the last two months, we have been running all over this nation. About 60 people do these pickets and we have six pickets in Topeka every day." The church´s literature promoting the event contains phrases such as, "They turned America over to fags; they´re coming home in body bags." Reese said the purpose of the protest remains unclear to him, but he has peace of mind knowing that his only child believed in the mission in Iraq. "He was home over the Fourth of July and we talked about it and he was very comfortable about what we´re trying to do over there," Reese said. "He felt it was the right thing to do." Enraged is how Virginia Stephens of Rockvale described her feelings when she heard that the group planned to protest outside Hawn´s funeral. Hawn was in the same troop as her husband, Wayman Stephens, who remains in Iraq. Hawn and Reese died after a rocket-propelled grenade hit their Humvee. "These are real people who are calling themselves Christian who are going to do this?" she asked. "That is amazing to me." Ashland City Police Chief Curtis Bennett is baffled, too. "I am a veteran, 21 years from the service and retired, and my deputy chief, he´s a veteran," said Bennett, who served in the Air Force. "These people, activists, try to use so much stuff against people for no reason whatsoever." He said he told the protesters, " ´This is a small town and the parents have lost a loved one and all they want is peace and quiet and to bury their son and to get on with their life.´ " He anticipates neither any problems nor staged counterprotests. The recent spate of military funerals also has led Stephens to make road trips. "I go to all the funerals that are public to attend, funerals for people I have never met," said the former police officer. "It´s honor and it´s respect. These people have done something that can´t be replaced. These men don´t want to die. These families don´t want to bury their husbands and sons. What this country has lost sight of is that this is one nation under God. God says love thy brother, not wish them dead." • |

"We´ll hunt down your king," he said ominously to Expressen. "It doesn´t make any difference where he tries to hide." Phelps´ hatred of the royal family and all things Swedish is linked directly to his equally virulent hatred of homosexuals. He praises homophobic crimes, including murder. When controversial Swedish minister, Åke Green, was convicted of inciting hatred of homosexuals following an anti-gay sermon, Phelps saw red and turned his attention to Sweden. "You´re doomed to spend eternity in hell," he continued. "All you Swedes and your Swedish king and his family." The minister and twenty members of his congregation from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, are planning to come to Sweden at the beginning of September. They are bringing plenty of placards in order to spread their message that Sweden is the cradle of all evil and that the king rules a nation of sodomites. King Carl Gustaf is their primary target. "Your king represents your doomed country and we´ll find him wherever he may be." Phelps claims that Sweden deserved to suffer in the new year tsunami catastrophe in southern Asia and has designed a monument to ´celebrate´ the deaths of over 500 Swedes in Thailand. The royal household regards the proposed visit as a serious risk and has increased security around the king and the royal family. "We´ll be informing Säpo of this," said royal spokeswoman, Ann-Christine Jernberg. So, should Sweden laugh, cry or take Fred Phelps seriously? Expressen columnist, Lars Lindström, is in no doubt that this is no joke. "If he were a cartoon character, I´d laugh. But now I just feel ill. Minister Fred Phelps has such extreme views that even the Christian far right in the USA feel a bit queasy." Lindström argues that it isn´t just singled out Sweden that´s exercised about Phelps, but that he attracts a lot of attention in his home country. "Phelps has eleven lawyers fighting for his constitutional right to cast the objects of his hatred to the fires of hell. To dismiss him as a village idiot is to take the easy way out." "With friends like Fred Phelps, Åke Green doesn´t need a single enemy," concludes Lindström. [link to www.thelocal.se] Swedes in shock at King Carl Gustaf sex scandal |
