Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.
Jesus and the Bible testify that hell is real. That's proof. Not believing in the Bible will not determine whether hell is real. But if you wake up in hell, you'll wish you'd believed in it. Bible says "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Don't wait until judgment to do so....that will be too late. Just because you don't believe in it does not eliminate it.

Can you tell us where in scripture God first announces that sinners end up in hell? It would have to be pretty early, and clear as day, considering how He always urged the prophets to plainly warn people of their predicament, lest blood be on their own hands for not speaking up.

Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.
Turkey above stated that "there is no proof that Jesus existed or is God." The Bible is FILLED with proof that Jesus existed and is God. He conquered death. He is alive. The proof is with us. If you continue to be blind to that proof, it is because you want to be blind. For years I refused to believe, but the proof is available. You'll find it if you seek it...if you want it.

Do you recall what Jesus said to the Pharisees regarding blindness?

"Where in the Bible do sinners end up in hell?"
Take a look at Luke 16 starting in verse 22. Paradise, before Jesus ascended and took Paradise to Heaven with Him, was separated from the "torment" part of heaven, verse 26.
In the torment part (Hades) verse 23 "and in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment and saw Abraham far away verse 24, "he cried out..... send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue; for I am in agony IN THIS FLAME." (verse 26 tells us that there is a great chasm fixed (between Hades and Paradise before Jesus transferred paradise to Heaven when He ascended) in order that none could cross from one to the other.
REVELATION 20:14 "AND DEATH AND HADES WERE THROWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE." THAT IS FUTURE. Right now, the lost (those who reject Jesus) are in Hades.....which will be thrown into hell, the lake of fire, in the future.
There are many other examples...but these two are the first I think of.
Jesus loves us enough to save us....how can we escape if we neglect so great a salvation!

there are nasty planets like this one to imprison the thugs. so be it.

Hold up. . .the gospels? Which didn't occur until several thousands of years into mankind's existence? Did God actually wait 4,000 years to bother mentioning such a hideous fate?! Maybe He simply forgot to inform them? He gave moses *volumes* of detailed instructions and directives to follow, including how to menstruate. . .but somehow neglected to say anything about hell?
Read the punishments of disobedience in the Law - they all pertain to life here on earth. Not one word about any afterlife.

You know Cain killed his own brother, yes? Genesis 4: read what God sentenced him to. It's not anything *remotely* as horrible as hellfire, is it? Why is this?

your idea of what is proof is very different from mine. there is nothing tangible in your argument save your personal feelings and beliefs. i can quote any thing from a book ,but that doesn't make it true. i guess i need something more than bible quotes and your dire warnings to be convinced.

Heaven and hell are here on earth, we choose to make of it what we want.

So choose hf

Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.
The gospels were not the first mention of hell....sorry...just gave the first two vivid recollections of where I remembered hell mentioned.
There are 65 mentions of Sheol and hell in the Old Testament, but that doesn't mean that they were the only times God disclosed information about hell. He walked and talked with some of the people in the Old Testament, so they were well aware of heaven and hell.
Prophecy itself is proof that all the Bible is true. Jesus said in John 14: 28-29 "Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe." If you really care about your eternal soul and whether heaven and hell exist, then you should ask for guidance from the Lord....He's waiting! Then sincerely and genuinely dig! The Bible is a gold mine of treasures that give us the answers. Only those who don't want to know can miss the truth. If you really want to know, you will find it.
Hundreds of Biblical prophecies that were made hundreds/thousands of years before they happened have been fulfilled. They are continuing to be fulfilled right now, and will continue.
And the comment about the people in Moses time being told "how to menstruate"...... not....that's a natural function....no instructions needed on that!

David Joseph: you are like the five brothers in Luke 16: 27-31. " I beg you, Father (Abraham), that you send them to my father's house---for I have five brothers---that he may warn them lest they also come to this place of torment. But Abraham said, "They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them. But he said, "No, Father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!"
But he said to him, "If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead."
I pray that you will come to a saving knowledge. So will you, David Joseph, be persuaded if someone rises from the dead?"

Sheol is merely "the hereafter". The unseen. It's not hell, otherwise why would Jacob be headed there just over sadness for his son? In Genesis 37, they lied and told him Joseph was dead, and he mentions going down to sheol (translated as "grave" here) mourning his son. How could someone deserve an afterlife of burning damnation just for crying over his missing offspring?

Prophecy itself is proof that all the Bible is true. Jesus said in John 14: 28-29 "Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe." No one is challenging this. Almost all I do is "sincerely and genuinely dig". . .this is how I've come to no longer believe in some eternal torture chamber: it has no basis in scripture, and God uses metaphorical fire to *purify* people.

Hell is a pagan myth imported into official church doctrine when Rome took over and tainted everything. The earlier christian fathers widely believed in the eventual reconciliation of everyone. Under the reign of the Popes, however, such a view suddenly became heresy. This is why they so effortlessly tortured peasants and burned them alive, because they think that's how their "god" does things.

Per scripture, God is Love, and Love never fails.

And the comment about the people in Moses time being told "how to menstruate"...... not....that's a natural function....no instructions needed on that!

This account is a parable. If this were a literal account of afterlife, the most obvious question is why is the Rich Man having a conversation instead of screaming uncontrollably? He's on fire. Secondly, why does he request a mere fingertip of water? And for his tongue? If his tongue is the first thing he wants extinguished, how is he even speaking? How does he even have a tongue? If he's dead, his inanimate body is lying motionless in some kind of grave.

What were his sins? Jesus never tells us, so it doesn't make for a very legitimate warning. He merely says the guy was well-dressed and well-fed, criteria which actually apply to most American christians.

Our rich guy here is Judah, with five brothers. The whole chapter is about stewardship - the accountability of the priesthood for what they did with what they were given. They failed severely, setting themselves up a nice little racket instead of blessing the people.

Meanwhile, some say that the Lazarus of the story is actually a reference to Abraham's steward Eliezar, who faithfully worked himself out of Abe's inheritance by obtaining a bride for Isaac. He chose obedience to his master over personal gain - a major contrast with the Pharisees.

But, if it were somehow the same Lazarus who Jesus raised from the dead, why does the story show him as a beggar? His sister was apparently rich. . .she's the one who anointed Jesus with the ointment that cost something like a year's wages. Was she holding out on him?

This story is a *parable*. Matthew 13 and Mark 4 both tell us that Jesus didn't teach without parables.

I sincerely believe that atheists really do believe in God, that is why they seem to get so riled up about the subject and constantly need to reaffirm their belief to anyone who will hear them. If one truly didn't believe in Our Lord then they would not be bothered about the subject or those that do believe in him. I don't believe in aliens, but when someone wants to talk about the subject or sell the idea, it doesn't bother me at all because I really just don't believe in them. I believe it is some of the secularists who really don't believe in him so much, not the atheists.

I'm a bit looped up after my surgery. I was going to say that I don't know much about Gehenna, but there's always been underworlds mentioned historically whether it be sumerian text, etc.

I find it hard to believe that those underworlds of darkness, hellfire, etc, are actual ethereal places though. Gehenna being a place where they sacrifice children? imo that's a very physical thing, like how christians sacrificed lambs, etc.

You're assuming several things, so take some time to think it over, maybe? I am not an atheist nor did I mean just Christians do this sort of thing. Hell as in the eternal inferno. It isn't real other than in ones own mind. Nothing I've said is pro-muslim nor do I feel I'm anti-christian...I feel that not all (or most) christians don't respect the bible and free will (condemning and judging when they are told not to). Hell isn't exclusive to Christian beliefs.
