WAR LOOMS ON ISRAELS NORTHERN BORDERS. Hezbollah Threatens 10,000 Rocket Opening Salvo. ISRAEL SAYS WAR LIKELY WITHIN SIX WEEKS. (Update Page2)

This is the previously published outline probable plan of attack for the five battalions. (Although there may well be more.) It should also be noted that because the area of operations is quite small, Hezbollah is limited in what it can do.


1st Battalion:

This unit will break through the Naqura-Rosh Haniqra border pass and sweep south along seven kilometers to seize Nahariya, the Israeli Mediterranean city of 55,000 - or parts thereof.
UN peacekeepers have their headquarters at Naqura, the other side of Rosh Haniqra, and Israel defenses there are lax, so no military or geographic obstacles to this Hizballah drive are anticipated. This battalion will capture a large number of Israeli hostages for use as live shields against an Israeli counter-attack
A small group of 150 fighters, trained by Revolutionary Guards marines, will also try and reach the coast by swift boats. They are already standing by in Lebanon.

2nd Battalion:

This unit is assigned to capture the northern Israeli town of Shlomi, 300 meters southeast of the Naqura border pass and home to 6,500 inhabitants. Holding this town and its environs will give Hizballah control of a key road hub and stand in the path of Israeli reinforcements heading for Nahariya through routes 89 and 899 from key Israeli bases in the Galilee and Upper Galilee regions to the east. (See map).

3rd Battalion:

Driving further south than any other Hizballah unit, this battalion must reach the three Israeli-Arab villages of B'ina, Deir al-Asad and Majd el-Krum, which are located north of the town of Carmiel and alongside Israel's Route 85 which connects Acre on the Mediterranean with Safad in the central Galilee mountains.

Iranian war planners want Hizballah to control the three Israeli-Arab locations for two advantages:

One: As a commanding position for stirring up the disaffected Israeli-Arab villages and towns of Lower Galilee and Wadi Ara to the south into a full-blown uprising. The incoming combat force will be backed up by clandestine Hizballah cells which for some years have established, armed and funded the underground "Galilee Liberation Battalions” in Sakhnin, Araba and Deir Hana, by means of drug smugglers.

4th Battalion:

This battalion will push southeast into the Kadesh Valley, on the rim of which the Makia and Yiftah kibbutzim and Makia moshav are clustered. Capture of these locations would afford Hizballah fire coverage of Israel's northernmost Galilee Panhandle.

5th Battalion: Hizballah's Strategic Reserve.

Rocket attacks from Lebanon will focus on disabling Israel's strategic military sites, such as air force bases, missile bases, its nuclear facilities and naval bases.

As it happens I've been following the situation pretty closely for the last ten years or so. And I'm also fairly knowledgeable on military matters, for an amateur that is. Much of what they say checks out with other stuff I know.

In general I'd say be a bit skeptical of everything and use the brain that you where given to think things out.

It works the other way as well you know. I don't dismiss anything from Al Jazeera just because it's an Arab source. I'll think about it and check it out first.

My initial thought on reading this plan of attack from Lebanon, is that the only thing Israel could do to prevent it, or - after its started, is to launch a very quick, massive attack of south Lebanon.

Last time Israel got off its chain they had beat the living shit out of 5 countries , had them on thier knees and begging to surrender within days.

Because they fought to win they did not fight to occupy them.

A Like I said in a previous post check out the information from other sources. You may believe it or not as you wish but in general terms I do think that what I've said is reasonably accurate.

B Battalions or brigades. There is of course a big difference in the fighting power between the two units. But basically a battalion can become a brigade within a matter of hours or days, depending upon a range of factors. So there is some uncertainty on this question.

D Don't believe all the Arab propaganda. Israel got to the outskirts of Beirut and held southern Lebanon for several months. Remember what I just said in another post about hi tech equipment all over the place. Well that wasn't just put into place (Although some of it probably was later.) by someone with one eye out for being spotted while doing so.

They had several months for well trained teams of technical experts to roam at will inside any building or facility that they wanted to, throughout southern Lebanon. Somehow I don't think that these guys where sat around smoking dope all day.

And a couple of other points on this subject. One...It takes trained teams to spot where this stuff is hidden. Israel knows this and dead specialists are high value targets. Israel can make booby traps like you wouldn't believe. Two...Quite a lot of stuff remains inactive until it's needed. Three...

Well none of that is hardly new. Muhammad was doing it back in the year 600 or something. The Germans did the same thing at Leningrad, the Allies at Dresden, and so on and so on.

Who do you think has been murdered in all those bus bombs and other attacks inside Israel over the years. Soldiers, or people going about their daily lives. Pretty soon this Mexican Standoff is going to break and the situation will resolve it's self.

It will be more than southern Lebanon. There is a whole slew of problems that need to get sorted once and for all.
