Report: NFL legend Junior Seau found dead at his California home

Damn, that sucks. And it says they are investigating a shooting, but do not say he was shot or the cause of death, weird.

Aww man, he's one of the greats. Young too. Feel terrible for his family.

He was. He was a great backer and never had the off the field issues many did. Whcch is also one of the reasons I find his death so surprising.

He was descent as an analyst compared to most ex-players in my opinion as well.

11:45 AM PDT -- Cops will be giving a news conference about the situation any moment -- we will be streaming the audio LIVE.

11:33 AM PDT -- Law enforcement sources tell us ... Seau died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Back in 2011, former NFL star Dave Duerson shot himself in the chest ... and explained in his suicide note that he wanted his brain donated to a research center because he believed the blows he took to the head during his football career caused him to become mentally impaired.

11:27 AM PDT -- We're told a 911 call came in around 10:00 AM. No word on who made the call.

11:26 AM PDT -- The North County Times is reporting Seau's body was discovered by his housekeeper.

11:23 AM PDT -- The coroner just arrived on scene.

11:20 AM PDT -- The San Diego Chargers have posted a tweet saying, "We don’t have any information right now on the Junior Seau situation. We pray he's ok."

Damn Junior, really? Suicide? This sucks. Yea, my heart goes out to his wife and kids for sure.

i know...sad...im watching the exclusive now...talking about gunshot wound to the chest. and how hes suffered from brain damage from football.

yea me too...but a friend and i were talking about baseball/football players just last week about football players should make more money because of the intensity of play...the league needs to do something about this.

Right, he was always such a down to earth, level headed, intelligent guy. I wonder what he was going through that had him so distraught.

I just don't get it. He loved the game, was loved by many, restaurant was thriving, excellent commentator, I could go on and on, but I'm in tears.

I agree, but I rated 5 stars because I just spent half an hour in the car listening to espn radio and nothing. Then I get on GLP and of course hear it hear first. A few minutes Scott Van Pelt just said on ESPN, "Yes they were aware of a big, breaking story, but are not bake to report on it, the associated press was".

i wouldnt rule it out...i dont think he used it though, but anyone that takes a lot of hits to the head isnt going to be alright in the head.

As far as I know he never failed a piss test or anything. Yes I understand that doesn't mean shit, but I doubt if he has taken them, he hasn't in the last several years at least.

When I was growing up, he was my favorite LB, even though I never liked the Chargers or Dolphins.

There's nothing wrong with loving the player and not the team when they rock the field.

Haha, I'm an ATL fan and all of my favorite players are on other teams. My current favorite, Vick of course was a Falcon and he played at VA Tech, which is my favorite NCAA team. I hate the EAGS, but do root for Mike!
