Officials at Bloomington High School South told police a male student allegedly told another student of his plans to "break the record," making reference to the 26 people killed in a school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The student said he had a gun in his locker and the shooting was going to take place on Friday (Dec. 21)." [link to www.wthr.com] |

While talking to police, the student said he was "excited" when he heard about the Connecticut shooting and that he felt "powerful" when he had a gun in his hand. "It was determined that the student did have access to various weapons at the home of his parents, but ammunition for those weapons was supposedly secured in a safe. The weapons were not owned by the student," Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters wrote in a release. |

If this was a serious concern, why were they not notified? Was that boys parents with him when they conducted this interview? Was it recorded? I am a parent of 5. The whole CT things scares me to my bones. I am afraid that we are giving up our rights as a knee jerk reaction. |

Quoting: vind21 I would think this is something that should be checked. Due to the increase in hype of the impending "doom" for Friday coupled with the suspicious activity of high school students this week, I suggest that schools should let their children out one day early for Christmas vacation.. with the last day of school being Thursday, not Friday. This way children are home with their parents. LisaDiane |

(WISH) - In the days since the massacre of teachers and students in Newtown, there have been a number of copycat threats made in schools across the country. Tuesday evening, Bloomington Police took steps to prevent a similar tragedy. Bloomington Police Captain Joe Qualters says police served a warrant at the home of a Bloomington High School South student. Police took two handguns, two shotguns and two rifles from the home. Police got the warrant after they were called to the school Monday afternoon. They say a male student allegedly told another student of his plans to "break the record" and made references to the twenty-six people killed in the Connecticut school shooting." [link to www.wishtv.com] I'm with the cops on this one. |

I think Breivik is the record holder. He killed 77 whereat he killed I think 6 via bomb and also made a video that went viral, Trinity even pinned it. |

Has the mother repeatedly had to speak to the school about her sons behavior; either school contacting the mother, or mother contacting the school |

Teach the children gun safety, put gun locks on the guns when youngsters are not in the presence of an adult. If you have a child with questionable intent make sure all weapons of any kind are not accessible. If keeping a gun for safety issues then an adult should be present. This is a clean and simple way to solve most of the problem. If a criminal wants weapons they are always street available. Lets try stopping the illegal avenues and have less violence with gaming, videos and tv. We are getting what we are allowing in society. |
