one thing I thought you were going to say is that: we eat what we eat because we've "learned" to, it is not genetic but environmental ie: diet. mom and dad eat what their parents ate and their parents before etc etc

if you know any doctors and see him or her at the grocery store; pay attention to what they are putting in their baskets. You won't see them in the chip aisle

I have noticed this past year that I am becoming farsighted. I have an appointment next week to see just how bad it is. I can't see shit that is fine print unless it is a good foot and a half away from me. Then everything is clear. I wonder if I increased the amount of what ever, it would help. I just assumed it was because I was hitting 40, so I expected shit to start falling apart. This fine tuned car just isn't as fine tuned as I thought :(

Nope, From pussy to schoolroom I was nearsighted and partially colorblind...I dominate in paintball and other woods type situations...remember animals are colorblind too...so don't see it as a handicap...

Like clockwork, past a certain age the ability to see up close is damaged. I drank green juice for 90 days and saw no improvement in my eyesight.

I was on a raw juice diet--nothing else--so of course no dairy or wheat.

Solution--dimestore magnifying eyeglasses everywhere--purse, kitchen, desk.....and you need different ones depending on how close you are looking.

Eye Dr. said I'm not ready for "real" glasses yet--still have perfect vision 3' out and more.

One strength for reading, one for looking at things up close like fingernails or splinter removal or anything closer than a book.

And the computer monitor is another--as it is further away than a book.

The dimestore glasses run from 10-20 dollars.

OP, how old are you? Might have helped you, but it is more complicated than just getting more vitamin A.

More and more it is becoming apparent that MANY problems can be overcome by avoiding bread.. there was a news article/presentation about wheat being chemically modified from what it used to be years ago, ergo the wheat sensitivities people are reporting

Its not just diet its the modern world, period. Eat whole organic foods, drink unflourinated unchlorinated water, breathe clean air, and get exercise and sunlight like your ancestors. This would cure or prevent 99.9% of diseases gauranteed. You almost have to be fucking rich nowadays to put yourself in a position where you are not eating and breathing crap all the time.

Research in the last decade or two indicates that an excellent diet can prevent genetic tendencies from expressing, while a poor diet can cause a genetic expression to occur which can then be bypassed on.

It's called epigenetics. It's a bigger field of study than genes.

The bottom line is that there are modulators that control gene expression, particularly -methyl and -ecetyl groups. IOW, the modulators are in charge, not the genes.

true. but it would seem that since the 1970's and on people's diets have become terrible leading to tons of health problems.

I believe some people's eyesight problems are genetic and some are related to diet. It never hurts to improve the diet though.

I knew a psychologist who treated a woman who had multiple personalities. Each of her personalities had a different strength of eyeglasses and one had no vision problems at all. So I suppose we could list mental/emotional problems for a reason for bad eyesight as well.

I have heard of people that have gone blind after witnessing something traumatic. And when they are able to deal with it their sight comes back. It is all in the mind. That might explain multiple personalities each needing a different prescription of eyeglasses. It is not physical eyesight problems but something dealing with the brain and emotions. Our brain is so powerful it can effect our sight and even our hearing when no one can find anything physically wrong with the person.

My mother has always had a healthy diet...diet has nothing to do with being nearsighted from birth.
