Iran is imprisoning and abusing an American pastor because of his faith. Iran, home of one of the world’s most radical Islamic regimes, is holding American Pastor Saeed Abedini because he is a Christian, refusing to release him, and subjecting him to unspeakable abuse.

No one should be thrown in prison due to their beliefs, unless of course a crime is committed.

This story should be on every news channel / station.

Report points to 100 million persecuted Christians

The non-denominational Christian relief organization Open Doors has said about 100 million Christians face persecution around the world.
The group pointed to an increase in persecution in Africa and the Arab world.

Open Doors publishes its report on persecution once a year, concluding that "an estimated 100 million Christians" faced persecution around the world in 2012.
The group said 49 of the 50 worst countries for Christians to live, with the exception of 46th-placed Colombia, were in Africa, the Middle East or Asia.

When I read this news today, I thought of the following scripture:

Acts 16:22-34

The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten.

After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully.

Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose.

The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped.

But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”

The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.
He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.

At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.

The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole family.

Must be like being in GITMO.

I know he counts it a blessing to be considered worthy to suffer for His great name.

Even though a prison is a place of confinement, our Lord has set his soul at liberty, and redeemed his life from destruction.

oh i doubt it, the creeps at gitmo are guilty and surrounded by their fellow muslims who are also guilty. plus we the taxpayers who fund gitmo call it club gitmo as it is kind of country club for violent killers.

this poor pastor is innocent and jailed with savages. hardly like gitmo...

i hope this pastor makes it out and gets on with his life.
