I'm hoping for a "mandatory fill-in" of swimming pools. Mainly in parts of the country where the sun shines a lot, and temperatures are above the national average for part of the year, there are hundreds of thousands of unnecessary swimming pools. Who needs a swimming pool to live?

Over 3,500 kids die every year in the U.S. by drowning in swimming pools. That's almost twice the number of school-age children who are killed by guns.

Sure, earlier in our history, before the advent of air-conditioning, pools could be seen as necessary to cool off. But today, we have air conditioning, both refridgeration and evaporative cooling. Some stupid rednecks cry "But it's a SPORT, a recreational activity!"

Why do you need swimming? You can play soccer, football (okay, not football, that can be dangerous), basketball (if you're not white), tennis, or of course, VIDEO GAMES.

In other words, there's no need for swimming.
