Now here is a thought.

The Westminster system of government is off. It needs to be binned and a new streamlined system introduced.

Ever since Federation we have had the need to have local representation into the parliament to act for and on behalf of our wishes and concerns. Not that the effectiveness of such representatives has been anything to crow about, but in the main it has 'worked'.

However, in these days of instantaneous global comms, where just about every individual has access to the web, why not put the hard questions to the populace and get an instant resolution.

Questions as to whether we have a carbon tax or send troops into an injust war can be resolved with little cost and with democratic majority. The boat people issue could be sorted, we could effectively tell people like Gina who actually owns the ore and who should benefit from its extraction and sale.

Hey maybe I am looking at it to simply, but with a little thought, this sort of pro-active system could work. What say you?
