In Germany, whenever the government begins to infringe on individual freedom, society stands up. Given our history, we Germans are not willing to trade in our liberty for potentially better security. Germans have experienced firsthand what happens when the government knows too much about someone. In the past 80 years, Germans have felt the betrayal of neighbors who informed for the Gestapo and the fear that best friends might be potential informants for the Stasi. Homes were tapped. Millions were monitored.

Although these two dictatorships, Nazi and Communist, are gone and we now live in a unified and stable democracy, we have not forgotten what happens when secret police or intelligence agencies disregard privacy. It is an integral part of our history and gives young and old alike a critical perspective on state surveillance systems.

I like all people whom are racists - for they speak their minds and respect their own cultures, and others! Trust no person that isn't!

So the best outcome here is how to help people in America bring their own government to account for its war crimes and genocide?

It sent cold shivers down my spine to see the way that masses of people, especially when he visited Europe (and Germany in particular), seemed to be idolising him for no apparent logical reason (after all, he hadn't done anything at that point). I felt like I was the only one who was saying that he was 'shifty' - it felt like everyone around me was brainwashed. At least now people are waking up to what morons they have been.

My husband and I felt the same way. Brainwashed by a toddler's tv show slogan "Yes we can!" from Bob the Builder. It was completely surreal. I think a lot of the hypnotized masses have awakened, however. In his last campaign he couldn't even get enough people to come to his speeches to fill up a small lecture hall.
