BRKG: Two more exchanges of fire on India / Pakistan border.
Nathan J Hunt ‏@ISNJH 6m
Reports of a 5th heavy exchange of fire on Monday in #Poonch between India and Pakistani troops [link to timesofindia.indiatimes.com]

Escalating border tension, Pakistani troops on Monday violated the ceasefire for the fifth time in the last three days by targeting forward Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch district with mortar shells, rockets and small arms firing.

Indian troops, guarding the borderline, took positions and retaliated resulting in heavy exchange...

...There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the Pakistani firing, Acharya said.

Pakistani troops fired at 11 posts in Digwar, Mankote and Durga Battalion areas along the LoC in Poonch.

This is fifth ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops in the past three days.

This was so inmature.
1 John 1–3._ 1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.

Watch out Porkis :

India moves towards n-triad as INS Arihant's reactor activated

New Delhi/Chennai. India took a major step towards attaining its long-awaited nuclear weapons triad as a reactor on board the country's first indigenous nuclear submarine INS Arihant was activated early Aug 10, paving way for its deployment by the Navy after sea trials.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh described it as a "giant stride" in the progress of the country's indigenous capabilities. Defence Minister A.K. Antony also lauded the "tireless efforts" of the large team that had worked on the project.

The miniature nuclear reactor on INS Arihant (slayer of enemies) went critical early Saturday and the submarine was on its own power.

"The reactor in INS Arihant is functioning well. It will be shut down later to study the reports generated," Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) chairman R.K. Sinha told IANS over phone.

He said the design was unique as compared to a land-based reactor.

"The reactor was designed and manufactured in India," he added. The submarine reactor was developed from a land-based prototype located in Kalpakkam, around 70km from Chennai.

Speaking to IANS over phone, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre director Sekhar Basu said: "After a reactor goes critical (beginning of the nuclear fission process), it is shut down to check the reports. Then the reactor physics experiments will be done. Unlike land based power reactors, shutting down and restarting a submarine reactor is not a big problem."

Indian Navy Launches first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant

At the launch, marking the end of Phase- I of the project, the imposing ramp of the 37,500 tonne Short Take off but Assisted Recovery (STOBAR) Carrier boasted the indigenous design and build capabilities of the country.

The ship has attained its designed length of about 260 m and is almost at its maximum breadth of 60 m. The main landing strip is ready.

Over 80 per cent of the structure, containing about 2,300 compartments has been fabricated, over 75 per cent has been erected, all the major machinery, such as the two LM2500 Gas Turbines developing a total power of 80 MW, the diesel alternators capable of producing about 24 MW and the main gear box have been fitted.

Soon after Vikrant floated perfectly upright, it was launched out into the Ernakulam Channel in a pontoon assisted precision manoeuvre. Vikrant was moved out of the building dock to be positioned in the refitting dock where the next Phase of outfitting will be completed.

Describing the occasion as ‘momentous’, Mr Antony said,“ Today’s launching of the IAC marks just the first step in a long journey, but at the same time, an important one.”

He said it was indeed a proud moment for the country to witness our efforts at achieving self-reliance in the field of warship design and construction, as only a very few advanced countries in the world possess the capability to design and build aircraft carriers.

India must continue the process of strengthening indigenous capability towards securing our maritime interests. ‘Our Navy must continue to maintain high operational readiness at all times to ward off any likely misadventure against our national interests’, he said.
