I want your two cents ... How does the "conflict with Syria" play out as we move forward? | |

I want your 2 cents, how does this play out? Quoting: IlluminatiAncestor I may be skeptical, but to me here is both the worst case, and in my book, the most likely scenario. U.S. attacks Syria with the approval of a good chunk of Europe (U.K. for certain). I see Iran then coming into the game to support Syria by bombing U.S. military assets. The U.S. will then strike Iran, which will bring in Isreal on the U.S./U.K. side, and Russia on the Iran/Syrian side. Russia begins blockades, attempting to stop U.S. warships, which may actually escalate to actual bombings of the U.S. homeland. U.S. will then begin bombing Russia in addition to Iran and Syria. Iran will send troops to Syria, much like they did in Iraq. China sits on the outside looking in, and may enter the war on the side of Russia, Syria and Iran .. or may just wait until the cookie fully crumbles and step in as the new world super power. That's how I see it going down, how about you? Yep sounds about right to me, I just hope when (uk) parliament meet on Thursday common sense prevails and they vote against taking action. If it goes ahead then I can only see very bad things happening!! The fact that the public (worldwide) can see this and are voicing their opinions may hopefully help to stop this lunacy!! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 7082325 United Kingdom 08/27/2013 06:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see this playing out with the UK and US plowing on , determined to start another war ( to underpin the us empires failing economy with the petrodollar) I see them (both) ignoring public opinion to do so and ultimately signalling the death knoll for their own continuation in the process -ignorance has arrogance and is blind to it's own demise cameron has neither the political nor moral mandate to govern the UK let alone to take us in to another illegal war - 'strategic' or otherwise I see society has woken up sufficiently to revolt at this action and - in the UK -voting the tories into the history books- taking their place amongst the whigs - removed for failing to reform in order to hold on to power that was rightfully no longer their I see the americans stuck between a rock and a hard place supporting obama and temporarily saving their paper thin economy or doing the right thing and allowing their economy to fail and to take the hit ( should they do this they can eventually rise from the ashes as the nation they were incepted to be - burying the corrupt empire they became and going to way of all corrupt empires before them ) that would be my 2 euros ;-) |

Lobbing a few missiles and jdams because Obama made the "red line" comment and now has to save face. The fact of the matter is that the war will be status quo by Monday. Going forward, I look for Egypt to release the proof they claim they have about Obama's involvement in the Muslim Brotherhood and the Syrian govt releasing reports of the DNA of the gas that was used. It's a bad war for Obama. Every egotistical ruler has a Waterloo moment and this will be Obama's! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 19899812 Ireland 08/27/2013 06:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It seems to me that while logical and plausible your scenario is a bit one dimensional. Move 1 US/WEST bombs Syria, move 2 IRAN bombs US assets in retaliation. If that happens, what do you think will happen to the world stock markets ? Right now, just on the threat of war they are reacting by falling, and by putting their money into the classic safe havens oil/gold. A strong body of GLP opinion claims that the US/PTB are out to make this war because if they don't their economic system will collapse. IMO it will certainly collapse the minute Iran attempts anything against the US. The fear factor alone would do it, again IMO,if Iran committed itself so, then logically, it would also attempt to destroy Israel, Iran is probably nuclear capable, and Israel certainly is. Israel is not going to wait to be destroyed, blink and you'll miss it. Therefore any point in your scenario after point 2 is anybody's guess, isnt it ? How do you conduct a war against a background where all civil norms have ceased ? On the money supply/commodity front in the West it would take no more than 36 hours at most for the full effects to kick in. What about power supplies logistics and all the rest ? For every military unit there must be ultimately hundreds if not thousands of civilian workers/suppliers. No pay and no food no workers. Simples. |

I'm with you on Egypt possibly releasing their information on Obama's involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood soon. There will never be a better time in their eyes. Should this happen, most of the world will see it for what it is ... bullsh#t. Americans will continue to not listen/care. Agreed. A bad war for Obama. Unwinnable. No reason to start it in the first place. |

It's effect on the world stock markets would depend on many factors. Starting a war, and profiting from both sides is an age old American way of stimulating the economy. Therefore, if you are in the RIGHT stocks, in the RIGHT nations, it'll be profitable. I'm with you on it's anyone's guess after Iran gets involved. To me this is the stickiest point in the mess. I think Iran getting involved could easily bring in Russia, and would certainly bring in Israel. If that happens, it's a powder keg. Simple as that. |

They don't want to commit suicide. They will see this as a slap on the wrist. Iran will do nothing. Sure they will huff and puff. Nothing more. Russia will watch and do nothing. They will complain to the U.N. Israel will watch. Nothing more. This will begin and end before most people even realize what happened. Assad will not be removed from power. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 13314174 Sweden 08/27/2013 09:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, from a financial standpoint, this really has potential to throw some serious rocks into the worlds financial machinery.. Russia has a lot of natgas, upon which europe is seriously addicted to. Europe could be looking forward to a cold winter. Or they cut down on oil deliveries. An oil price surpassing 200 USD/barrel will probably do the world economy in... Even if this never escalates outside of syria, there is plenty of potential side effects that could make the coming winter really tough, and especially for poor people. But most of all, the syrians, in the smack middle of everything going down, are in for a shitload of pain... Even if this isn't the preferred GLP-doom, no matter how I look at it, what's going to happen in the next couple of weeks, will mean doom on a personal level, for a lot of people, and likely not only syrians. |

User ID: 45809649 Canada 08/27/2013 09:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The West attacks and not one goes according to plan and the world laughs and kills our dollar and by next spring 90% have died because of the weather, the other 8% are intentionally killed, the rest don't matter. The power play still goes on as far as who is the manufacturing base and the world gets sucked in again to allowing 'middle men' to create false supply and demand issues and profit when they have zero input as far as being 'worthwhile'. So it ends, so it begins. The other options are not as cheerful. |
