The movie gets very high ratings, but can you trust those reviews that the search engines produce?
I'm torn whether I should go see it. I almost went today and then changed my mind not sure if I should believe the hype.
Is it just special effects and entertainment? What do you think?
Some reviews say that there is a deep spiritual message contained in the movie.
Is there a message worth watching the movie? Is it a deep message or just an MSM tailored spiritual brainwash message? Is this movie what they say....already a classic....would you recommend seeing it? I think there will be more accurate reviews among the glp crowd than in the general public : )
Would love to see some real opinions and thoughts about the movie to help decide whether it's worth watching.

It's average.

Pretty good visuals.

Movie takes no risks, and Bullock character undergoes a somewhat cliched personal transformation.

Some of what happens in space is ludicrous, which detracts from the realism.

Some scenes are intense.

I really wish it had been a little more realistic.

Not really a classic. I reserve that distinction for Apollo 13.

Thanks. Maybe watching it without any expectations will make it pass as a good movie.
Did you see it in 3D?

I find George Clooney's voice a bit annoying and one already has too much information about him about his real life persona that may be taking away from the content. I wonder if they picked the right actors for this...

And why is the male saving the female? That makes her look inferior or dumber than Clooney. Isn't that a bit of an old cliche?
Can't take me anywhere ...once I start picking movies apart I ruin the experience for anyone. lol

Some record numbers and people go see the movie more than once...

Opening to $55.8 million last weekend, director Alfonso Cuaron‘s Gravity continues to defy expectations and is doing record-breaking midweek business. Many expect the film to gross $28 million or more in its second weekend.

Gravity remains the bigger ticket after accounting for 70 percent of weekday sales on Fandango.
Indeed, Gravity is playing like a summer film in fall. The movie took in $6 million on Monday, followed by $6.8 million on Tuesday and $5.3 million on Wednesday — record numbers for October.

Gravity‘s North American total through Wednesday is $73.8 million after jumping the $100 million mark globally on Tuesday.

STORY: Worth 3D ‘Gravity’ and 10 More Movies That Benefit From the Upgrade
“The word-of-mouth on this movie is staggering,” said Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman. “These are extremely huge, record-breaking numbers for midweek. We did a survey last night showing that 6 percent of the audience has seen the movie more than once.”

Gravity remains a huge draw in 3D, with 80 percent of the revenue coming from the more pricey format.

You guys are all fucking douche bags.

It was the best movie experience I've had in the theater in a while. 3D too.

You're all coming off as elitist pricks.

If only most movies that came out could be of this caliber.

Flashbacks of Sandra Bullocks driving that bus.. in Speed.
I kept noticing how Sandra looked different. You know, like plastic surgery or botox or whatever.
I like her as an actress tho'.

And George Clooney. I mean, George frikken Clooney.
Why?
Why did they choose these actors?
George's pretty face.
Yes. That's it. I have seen his face too many times. I see him as a fashion model type.

Took me awhile to get past how I was watching GEORGE and SANDRA in another movie.
But that's just me.
If you like the feeling of having major stress & anxiety, you will just love this film.

I am no rocket scientist but my instinct was telling me that this type of situation could never happen.

What I call a "Good" movie is one that can I can really get into.
The teen boys near us really liked it, so what do I know?

Deep message?
Yes! Somebody tell me if there was a deep message because I must have missed it.

I found this movie fun and entertaining. The scenario is plausible and at the same time it is for sure a product of Hollywood.

The visuals are stunning for the large screen and the elements of suspense are present.

Personaly, I feel that most people have become spoiled and selfish when it comes to their expectations for a movie. When I think of all the crap movies that are made, this one does a great job of entertaining.

Of course, movies, stories, and music are highly subjective and everyone has their list of what makes a good movie so I don't want to criticize anyone that did not like this movie, but I would go with the "end user comments" that are coming out nationally. A high majority find this movie entertaining and worth viewing it in a theater.

I agree with the majority on this one. Go see this movie on a big screen!

If you want alot of plot then it is not the most complex in terms of characters and stuff because it is all almost real time...

But that being said, awesome movie, quite the ride, and keeps the theme of gravity being the "enemy" in this movie up until the very end

the anxious part comes from the retarded unrealistic nature of the events that happen in the film.

I hear ya. Sounds like a Disney world ride. Thrills with no substance. I was hoping for some intellectual/spiritual tickle triggered by the movie....but if there is nothing that makes me think and ponder further beyond the expensive and elaborate special effects than I may just feel that the movie clogged up some space in my mind and I'll have to detox from it.

Movie is listed at 91 minutes. Felt like it went by in a flash. Unable to look away from screen. Very engaging. Will return to see it in 3D next time.

Definitely see it in 3D...in the best theater available to you. Not the most realistic movie you'll see this year...but it was a stunning visual and awe inspiring experience. When I left...I felt heavy. Like I had just returned from space. If you can suspend disbelief for 90 minutes...and just enjoy the ride...you will leave not feeling that you have watched a movie...but that you have experienced one.

What is retarded is someone that is so clueless that they go to a movie without understanding what the premiss of the movie is. I'm sure you would be calm and completely under control if you were put in that scenario.

It was a story.
It was for simple entertainment.
It's hollywood.

Well I went to it about 4 hours ago. It's BRILLIANT. But I am interested in films like this because I like to try and figure our how they actually shot the scenes. And from that viewpoint, It's an absolute masterpiece!..... I have been building sets for movies off and on since 1982. They were cool sets and how did they make all the tethers and props [not to mention the actors themselves] etc float around the set so well?

This movie is serious film making.
