A good friend from church and bowling passed 2 days ago from covid. 3 weeks ago was dx with bronchitis, then a few days later upgraded to pneumonia. Couple of days after that, went to ER with extremely low oxygen sat's. Was in ER 3 days for lack of beds upstairs. While in ER, was placed on high flow CPAP. Then his heart went into a-fib. Was moved upstairs and in CCU for a week before passing.

Then today, my niece's 13 yr old daughter tested positive. Fortunately, her symptoms are all mild so far. But she was at her school volleyball game last night with family and my sister, her grandma. So now all in quarantine. No one else has symptoms yet.

We found out last night that one of my daughter's best friends tested positive yesterday. She has flu-like symptoms. Fever, congestion, body aches, etc. My daughter was with her Friday and Sunday. Ugh. We are awaiting test results for Mini. She wanted to be tested.

Massive Solar Eruption - A CME is Likely Headed Towards Earth

Two Eruptions Today (UPDATED)

Two events to report that were observed on the Sun today (Aug 24). The first was a prominence eruption off the west limb that flung a CME into space and is now becoming visible in the latest LASCO coronagraph imagery. This looks to be headed mostly to the west and away from Earth.
The second event beginning at approx. 12:00 UTC was an eruption near AR 2859 that launched a large amount of plasma away from the blast site. It remains to be seen if any of this plasma escaped the Sun and if a CME is headed towards Earth. More updates regarding this a little later on. Image below by SDO/AIA.

UPDATE: The first CME observed on Tuesday off the west limb is heading away from Earth just as expected. Coronagraph imagery following the later eruption around AR 2859 is also showing a CME, however less impressive and so far appears to be headed mostly to the east. Another update will be provided once a tracking model is complete.
