There have been many new HBP medicines put on the market in the past few years. Many doctors will also prescribe a tandum med for cholestoral as well .... both can kill but togather they are lethal. My advice is stick with an old school med @ a low dose <50mg and watch what you eat and try and quit smoking. Atenenol is a beta blocker and should do the job just fine . Remember in todays society, its all about the "soft kill" |

I take it as well. That was the one that really lowered my blood pressure. I don't think it is the cause of your sweating. You were prescribed it for a reason, to prevent you from having a stroke and other organ damage or a heart attack. It caused me to feel dizziness at first but that was because my blood pressure was sky high. I get sleepy a lot now but that is a common side effect, plus I'm on 3 others. I used to have the night sweating problem as well before I went on bp meds but it went away. Getting old sucks doesn't it? |

That's not to say you are not sensitive to it, but don't just drop off them. Go see your doc. A stroke is much worse than a sweat. also, these side -effects often wear off after a couple of weeks. |

Other drugs and ways beyond drugs exist to help you - if you even need help, diastolic values of 75 are just fine. Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |

They put me on Lotrel. It has an ace inhibitor. It swelled my throat shut and caused sleep apnea for 3 years. I finally figured it out. The doctor or pharmacist did not. When the diabetes got under control, blood pressure went to normal. deplorably republican |

My mom has use that particular drug for MANY years and it seems to do a good job, but I would still try to get off of it. What will we do if the dooms we expect stop our supply. Then too you need medical insurance money to pay for this stuff. |
