This sounds like BS to me.

Depleted uranium has a certain property that makes it a great anti tank weapon--weight. It weighs about 5 times more than lead. It is used in kinetic energy weapons, such as tank guns. These armor piercing rounds are used by all powers that employ main battle tanks around the world.

Such ammo, called armor piercing discarding sabot, do not explode. After the round is fired, an outer casing falls off. What remains is a shaft, fin stabilized and a sharp point, travelling at approx a mile a second. There is no armor on earth that can stop such a round--even at beyond 3000 meters--it goes right through anything it hits. It is a big bullet. A point type weapon--it must directly hit what it is aimed at for any effect at all. It is not artillery.

Cluster bombs are area type weapons, such as artillery and mortars. I suspect that most here have seen videos of these things being deployed--clearly an area type weapon. Such weapons can use a single big explosion, or many small ones in the same area. There is absolutely no reason to use something as expensive as depleted uranium for cluster bombs. As these weapons are delivered by aircraft, the weight would be of some importance too. Did I mention that it weighs more than 5 times what led weighs?

On another note, these weapons have a known history of having a large percentage of duds. This creates hazards for anyone in the area long after a conflict is over. As most nations have agreed to ban land mines, I see no reason that cluster bombs should have a variance--its end results are the same. I would chalk it up to fly boy vanity.
